SL Conveyancing

The WORST experience we have ever had in working with conveyancers. Four days before our settlement, SL had completed information on the transfer system incorrectly - when I reached out for clarity, I were attacked for not knowing their process. The main contact I was dealing with was off sick for days without any communication to us, and then when I asked who was handling our file, I was attacked for them being short staffed, and told someone would get back to me 2 days later and with lots of chasing, I finally got someone to speak to me and was berated for being impatient (now 2 days before settlement.) I was told someone would get to our file when they could.The day before settlement, we ended up having to move our file to another conveyancer and delay settlement by 10 days incurring a late settlement fee in the $4000 range (a fee that was way out of proportion and a good conveyancer wouldn't have let us sign a contract with such high fees - but SL didn't really review our purchasing docs with much detail!!) SL would not release our file without paying them almost their whole fee even though there were errors and it was incomplete the day before settlement. Our new conveyancers were disgusted at how badly our file had been handled and that we had been held hostage to pay for such poor quality work.My reco - get a professional firm to handle your case - SL is disorganised and completely unprofessional in handling any kind of challenging situation.
