Hooked on Hounds

We have a 10 month old Kelpie that we wanted to work on leash skills and recall with. Also wanted to see him on sheep. We’ve done 2 of our 3 sessions with Dan and are completely stoked with our dogs progress in such a short amount of time. Dan makes everything simple, easy and fun! Such great experience for us and our dog! Highly recommend to anyone whether it be for behavioural problems or advanced training. Absolute legends!

Can't recommend Hooked on Hounds enough! They helped us with our Cattle Dog Clancy (on the left) who we thought was dog reactive but is actually more unsure of other dogs. The skills they taught us have worked tremendously and now Clancy is unbothered when he sees other dogs. Thanks guys!

Honestly could not recommend Dan & Nat more. I took my Australian Shepherd to them for obedience and stock work. They have taught me so much about communicating with and handling my dog. I use the tools they taught me everyday and I now have an obedient and well behaved dog that I can do absolutely anything with. Such lovely people and amazing dog trainers!

Our boisterous dog Leo had a great training session with Dan and Shane. Really helped me understand how to get him to focus more on me and less on all the other exciting things happening on our walks. Can't wait to put it all into practice.

We had our Border Collie, Willy, stay with the guys at Hooked on Hounds for a 14 day board and train to work on some loose lead walking and reactivity issues, and we are so happy with the results!Dan, Nat, Shayne and Hunter are knowledgeable and professional, and they clearly have a deep understanding of dog behavior and training techniques. They took the time to get to know Willy and his specific needs, and tailored his training to address his personality and behaviours.When we picked Willy up after his stay, we were so happy with the difference in his behavior. He was walking calmly on the lead and seemed much less reactive to other dogs and stimuli. The trainers also provided us with clear instructions on how to continue his training at home, which has been incredibly helpful.We also really appreciated the level of care and attention that Willy received during his stay. We were updated regularly with photos and videos of his progress, which was a really nice touch.We hope to progress further with Willy and our other BC, Larson, through HoH, thanks guys!

After using another dog trainer that wasn't successful in helping us with our needs to help rectify several issues with our 6 month old Kelpie we came across Dan and Nat. From the first conversation we already felt that alot of interest was taken in the background of our Kelpie and our lifestyle plus the other 2 Kelpies we have to try and help us control her issues better.After the 1st lesson we had progressed further than the previous trainer had in 8 lessons.Dan and Nat took interest in her bloodlines and they were very familiar with these and explained to us that she had very strong working bloodlines and all her issues were related to her strong working instincts and we would have to be very dedicated to the training procedures to help control her better. Their training methods are much more aligned with long term progress and behavioural stability. We trusted Dan and Nat so much so that after 20 odd years of dog ownership, never requiring dog boarding, we even used their boarding service for our Kelpie while on an extended holiday.Dan and Nat, thank you so much for helping us get our pup under control but most importantly, learning how to understand her so much better and why she had such issues.

I have taken my 2 Border Collies to Dan for 2 completely different behavioural issues.Dan always tailors his training to suit each dogs needs and uses his wide variety of training techniques to help assist each dog.I have done 2 x 3hr training sessionsAnd 1 x behavioural/herding combo.I will continue to progress through the levels of training and herding with my boys.I drive 2hrs each way to go here and its definitely worth it!!I will continue to recommend Hooked On Hounds to everyone who asks me why are your dogs so well behaved"Thanks to the team for getting them to this level !! =)"
