We put a bike on layby that was already on the floor. The bike was more expensive than every other bike shop, but hey, I like to support local. When we no longer wanted the bike due to my son getting a surprise bike from his Aunty we asked for a refund. I rang the shop and left a message for the owner who was on holidays that week, told I would get a call when he returned next week. 3 weeks later no return call!So we went into the shop, willing to buy a helmet etc from there to cover the shops trouble of the 5 minutes it took to do the initial layby. But no, the owner wanted the full deposit amount we paid. I would understand this if the bike had to be ordered in etc, but it was a bike that was already sitting there. Well enjoy your deposit, because me, my family and all our eagle hawk friends won’t be setting foot in your shop again.And as for your 25% deposit on the receipt statement. It wasn’t signed by either party, which makes it not a legally binding agreement, however it’s not worth my time to chase it up.
