Fishy Business

Worst scallops & chips i have ever been handed in my life! Scallops were tiny & looked like black marbles? Yuck! I asked for a refund & got it of cause. Really this box of takeaway yuck is embarrassing, especially coming from the wharf in Hobart which is known for having beautiful fresh fish! Never again! Improve your food or sell up as us locals expect a whole lot better!

Ordered 2 dim sims. 20 minutes later we inquired what was going on. One was cooked and he had no idea why the other wasn’t cooked.Seriously it was 2 flipping dim sims. Person in front of us complained about waiting 25 minutes to cooked flake and chips.Should have went to flippers.

Fish was over cooked and oily. Tasted more like flavourless rubbery chicken breast. Had to beg for a lemon wedge. For $17.50 you would do much better buying frozen fish and microwave it. You would be respecting the fish more that way too.

There was a 20/25 minutes wait for the food. We ordered Fisherman's baskets. Everything tasted as though it had been cooked in the same oil, which had been over used. No love went into this fish. It was bland bland bland. Caught me once.

Had fisherman’s basket for two along with garden salad. A reasonable price for a loaded typical fish and chips. Loved sitting at the back overlooking the water. Two young people working in the kitchen were lovely and friendly.

0/1000 Highly not recommended. The young man on 26th Feb around 5pm served the most Stingy serve. Tasted horrible. The worst fish and chips I have ever had. I have never ever left a review on fish and chips before this was the absolute worst, small, stingy and disgusting serve I have ever had. I should have realised why there was no one there. Obviously locals know to stay away from this place. As a tourist I wasn't aware. On reading all the one star reviews I should have checked.Buyer beware stay away from this absolutely terrible place. Fish and chips are awful. You have been warned. 0 Stars!!!

Love their fish & chips, especially the scallops - soft and bouncy, and their homemade tartare sauce. The portion size was good, always enough as a big lunch, the fisherman's basket for two was always a good choice to share with my partner. Staff members were friendly and hard working :)

Scallop was soggy, calamari was soggy too. Fish was soggy+had big bone. Staff was bot friendly, did not jnow what drinks he got, what drinks customer want(even we mentioned with the one front of him), he did not pay attention to the customer.100% not recommended.

We were on a cruise ship that stopped in Hobart last Saturday Feb 4 and whilst onshore decided to try out this place . Worst decision we ever made . We should never have believed their signage that said . Best fish and chips in Hobart .We waited for 30 minutes for a piece of flake and chips that cost $17 each and when we got it all the fish was mostly over cooked batter . The guy cooking this had no pride and looked totally disinterested in serving up half decent food . The chips were all the end bits and it was hard to find a chip that was of normal size . Left most of mine in the basket and now regret not complaining at the time . We were tired and just wanted to get back on the ship. Would NEVER recommend this place to anyone . Needs some love and cooks that care . To be fair the young guy on the counter was doing his best but seemed inexperienced.

It’s all about fish obviously. Can’t complain as we know all fish n chips are oily but that’s the good bit. Fancy seafood restaurants around but if you’re price conscious Fishy Business will be the best alternative. This is the only shop that has eat in located at the back but only accommodate max 10 people only on a row seating facing the water. Ample paid parking.
