Nightcap at Ocean Beach Hotel

Terrible experience with Ocean Beach Hotel, Umina, NSW, Australia . We made a booking through American Express on 13 October 2022 to stay overnight at Ocean Beach Hotel on 19 November. We got the booking confirmation email from AMEX. Drove all the way from Sydney (2 hours drive from home), arrived at the hotel at 5pm. To our utter surprise, their manager said there’s no booking and hotel full. They said they can’t accommodate us. We kept talking to them for 2 hours at the counter, but no resolution.We showed them booking confirmation number from their hotel, but they kept saying they don’t have the confirmation number. Ultimately there being no accommodation available, we had to drive back again for 2 hours and came back home.What a terrible experience with this hotelTheir booking system is totally rubbish or their booking process is terrible…Suggest , if you ever have to do a booking at their hotel, please confirm 2 times with them that their booking for you still stands.Imagine, I drove only two hours from Sydney , but if you’re coming from a far distance or overseas and come across the same situation, be ready to sleep in the open sky because these guys won’t be able to Help you!We won’t ever make a booking at their hotel.

Stayed in a family room with my wife and 3 kids (10,8,8). Room was clean and functional. The kids thought it was ‘fancy’. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a very central spot. Family friendly dining and outdoor areas are also a bonus. It’s exactly what it looks like in the brochure, which is always nice.

Clean well maintained rooms. Perfect for our quick 2 night last minute getaway. Staff were friendly, bistro did good meals. Will definitely stay again if in the area.

Great value for money, great location, very clean and modern room, very comfortable bed! Friendly staff. Convinient bar and bistro at hand and quiet at rooms.I’ve saved this place in my favourites, we’ll stay here again and will recommend to friends going to this area.

The severely worn chair and very old and basic reception desk is a sign of things to expect...The rooms have recently been refurbished with a VERY tight budget. Hot water for the shower takes about 10 minutes and inconsistent extremes. Bed surprisingly comfortable.I was promised room 1 supposedly the quiet" room but that's a far fetch from it. Operational noises from the Bistro audible but not terrible. Just after midnight there was a huge disturbance next door that sounded like a domestic incident with yelling

The bed, aircon, tv all excellent, the room size amazing both bedroom & bathroom, spotlessly clean, fantastic value.

Room No. 3Nights stayed: 2Housekeeping: -5 (minus 5)/5Firstly I have to give a shoutout to Dayan, exceptional and friendly service.We found the room very neat and clean. It appears the rooms have undergone a recent renovation and the consideration into the design and layout shows.The general experience of the stay was good, but the housekeeping let things down... badly.It is very unfortunate that the housekeeping was so shockingly bad. Rather I should say, there wasn't any housekeeping done at all.The normal expectations for housekeeping are, clean the bathroom, empty the bins, remake the bed, replace towels, replace the amenities and a generally tidy up... but, the only thing, and I mean the ONLY thing, that was done was the replacing of the towels.When we returned in the afternoon, the room was exactly how we had left the room in the morning when we went out to enjoy the sunshine and the town. Except for the clean towels. The bathroom was not cleaned, the basin and counter had not been wiped. The bin had not been emptied. The amenities such as shampoo/conditioner and body wash had not been replaced. Even the toilet paper, with the empty role still on the holder, had not been replenished. The bed was still unmade, with pillows to the side as we left them.Whomever came in to 'clean' just did not bother.We are very neat people and our 'untidy' is still very neat by most standards and we take pride in this fact and treat every place we stay as we would our own home.I cannot fathom as to why the room was not serviced at all.I did not complain as we were tired from the days' activities and had no interest in dealing with the issue when we were checking out the next morning. I requested the missing toilet paperUnfortunately it is the details that count at the end of the day, and this is one detail that cannot be overlooked.It is sad that the entire stay is defined by this simple but catastrophic failure.Again, Dayan, thank you for your service and while the hotel generally is very neat and clean, housekeeping has failed you.

Beds were comfortable & the staff are friendly.We got in quite late & we’re given the key to the room by a friendly gentle man.The tvs in the rooms didn’t work & the room was tidy but not clean. Large dead cockroach in the bedroom & bathroom.Patched hole in the wall with a window lock that didn’t work.It was what it was for a night, we slept & showered.

Great service, and friendly staff. We arrived early and was able to check-in before we headed out for lunch. The rooms are very comfortable, but there were a couple on minor issues such as the one bedside lamp being broken and the window blinds don't completely cover the windows, allowing light from the street lights outside in. Overall great value for money.

Have been staying at the O.B Nightcap for over two months and Staff are super friendly rooms clean cleaners even friendly and helpful.Everything is close by in walking distance.The area is full of coastal activities.With the exception of one night of misbehaved guests causingDisturbances, my stay has been going great and still continues.
