Vivonne Bay Rock Pool

Neat little rock pool! During our brief stop I spotted four crabs in the pools. Lots of rocks to climb and explore. The crashing of waves accompanied by the ebb and flow of water into the rock pools is fascinating, if you like that sort of thing! If you don't want to climb or explore rock pools, you can still get a pretty good view of the action from above.

The scenery around point ellen is spectacular. Some of the best scenery you will see on kangaroo island

Lovely area to climb around in. Waves crashing by are beautiful, and lots of chances to see the wildlife. Perfect photo opportunities, and just a nice spot to relax in as well. Definitely an underrated area in Vivonne Bay. Easy access from car park as well. Would 100% go again.

Fabulous views and amazing waves. Do be careful though if exploring the rocks!

Amazing rock pools with lots of wildlife and opportunity to swim a bit too!

The colour was amazIng. You can fish from the jetty.

CAUTION - Another great South Australian rock pool to visit, however please be careful, what we thought were the large ocean waves just cascading occasionally over the rocks into the pools were possibly just standard small waves, within a minute of entering the pools EXTREME larger waves hit and completely swamped the area. The rock our daughter with the white top was sitting on and my wife was completely submerged, they had to cling on to it. My son and I were washed on to the sharp rocks and we thankfully walked away with some minor abrasions. Apart from that, it's worth a visit, be cautious or think twice if you decide to swim in the rock pools, (we're not sure if they are safe at all to swim in as you can see from the first photo they looked safe) and keep away from any areas where you could be swept in to the ocean. I would give the rock pools 5 stars if we knew they were safe for swimming in.
