Wonderful experience. Remy is a master of his craft and of encouragement. From the moment your pencil markings join up to the moment you join your 2 dovetailed pieces together, you’re feeling great satisfaction. I love the box I came home with. I recommend this course to anyone who wants to reconnect to their own practical creativity.

I've just spent a couple of weekends learning how to make a small table and I highly recommend it! Rob is a very knowledgeable teacher and is patient enough to teach a beginner like me.Their fantastic fully equipped workshop gives you the right environment you need to learn some new skills! Definitely consider it if you've been looking to get into woodworking.

MFSW is an excellent environment in which to learn and develop woodworking skills. The tutors are expert and encourage the students to produce the best result in each project undertaken, using proven and best-practice cabinet-making techniques. My own experience is such that I have been able to build pieces that I anticipate will be considered heirlooms.in the years to come.

It was my first time at the school. Did the furniture restoration course with Big Ben" who is a wonderful guy and a great teacher with loads of time saving techniques for any kind of restoration project. His experience is invaluable. The small group meant we had a chance to learn from each others projects as well. Excellent street parking. Highly recommend the Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking. I will be back!"

The knowledge of tutors is amazing. They put so much effort into helping members of different abilities to get the most out of every project, from the simplest to the most complex work. I have loved every minute of my time here.I have also attend 3 short courses that have provided me with additional skills and understanding of tools and equipment that enabled me to produce better fine woodwork projects.

A recent cold Melbourne weekend was made all the better by attending an Introduction to Furniture Making course. The course, over two days, is offered by the Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking in Box Hill. It was excellent. As a novice keen to explore the world of fine woodworking it proved a great entry point. I came away with the confidence and enhanced interest to take it to the next step of joining a tutored group next term. Gray our instructor has a wealth of experience and led us through demonstrations in such a way that we were all confident to test out new skills with hand tools during the hands-on second day of the course. His patience in instruction and passion for his craft encouraged all six of us to press on with our projects.

I came to MSFW as a beginner, and was taught the fundamentals of fine woodworking by an expert instructor. I learned how to confidently and safely use the school's workshop machinery to prepare my timber, as well as a gamut of joinery and finishing techniques. Over a number of years and after completing numerous pieces of furniture, I've progressed from beginner level to the point where I'm confident to tackle just about any kind of woodworking project. For me the key thing I've gained has been the ability to indulge my love of all things to do with wood, and create beautiful tactile high-quality objects of my own design.

I've been a member for about five years, and I've taken part in the tutor groups as well as a couple of the short courses. The instructors are incredibly knowledgable, friendly and patient. The atmosphere is relaxed, and everybody gets to learn at their own pace. Along with the skills I've acquired, I've found the whole MSFW community to be very friendly and eager to help each other progress.

Great place to acquire new woodworking skills in a very friendly and relaxed environment. In addition to instruction on specific furniture projects the class is given knowledge / guidance on the use of both hand tools as well as electric equipment. Also, provide handy tips on rectifying mistakes.
