This place deserves a review.Burgers were fantastic, it was a real burger!!Chips were perfect, not too greasy with the right amount of salt, and I recommend getting the gravy too.Great service and will definitely be back next time I am up ballarat way.

Absolute rubbish. Stale soggy fish, potato cakes look like like they were run over by a steamroller. Would not recommend to anyone. If we get crook tonight, expect a visit from the health inspector.Well, don't we get all snarky when a bad review is posted. I stand by my original review, the food was not fit for consumption. Perhaps if you spent more time and effort into the preparation and cooking, you would not have such a negative review.Well this has escalated. You sold me below standard food cooked in old below temperature oil, and you expect me to come in and talk to the owner? Not going to happen pal.

Really nicely cooked potato cakes and fried dim sims. PC'S are a descent size too. Seats to use while waiting.

Very disappointed with the quality of the food we got today. The fish was slimy and tasted off. The chips were cooked in oil that needs changing, and the potato cakes were way too thin and soggy.We ended up throwing everything out, as it was inedible.I don’t want to criticise the young lass who was behind the counter, as I doubt she’s using a rolling pin on the potato cakes before frying them.The quality of the fish itself is dreadful.

Burnt onion rings, some inedible. Chips cooked in what looks to be old oil. Fish crumbling and over cooked.

Pre battered crab sticks...yuckTasted like the fish was fried in dirty oil..... Payed for a pumpkin cake, received potato cake, asked for chicken salt got normal salt.....chips were nice.First time buyer and will be last time for me.

We have given this local business a few chances but unfortunately it has been going down hill since the new owners took over. Tonight we ordered minimum chips, nuggets and a steak burger (which was missing from our order). The over cooked chips had what looked like crumbs from other things that had been cooked previously in the oil. No salt whatsoever, and lumps in the nuggets (?!) We've continually overlooked the sub par customer service but being served poor quality food tonight has made us decide to not to return. Become more passionate about your quality of food you guys, you're the only fish and chips out this side of town!Thank you for getting back to me Brown Hill Fish Shop. I'm a little confused to your statement in regards to your pricing on mediocre fried food? You must have been mistaken - it wasn't the issue at hand.As for my knowledge of the texture of what a chicken nugget should be, I have never encountered a nugget and experienced a crunch like on what seemed to be a small bone or rock.I'm certainly no food connoisseur, I just like to give honest feedback.All the best for the future! Pricing was reasonable, service prompt and friendly.Partner who ate fish said was it very tasty.However food quite oily and not really tasty from our preferences. Worth mentioning that we’re both on an overall health phase so don’t eat deep fried food very often, so we are probably more sensitive to Io it than used to be
