Walhalla Goldfields Railway

A great part of the former Walhalla line. Last visited about ten years ago and the railway is still beautifully preserved.I don’t recall from our last visit but there is a cafe in the old goods shed. The food is reasonably priced and there is a decent selection of food as well. Well worth the visit.

Beautiful Train ride. Took us for a ride in Beautiful Scenery up to Thompson Station. Customer service is really good.We booked for 1pm, but they already let the people who booked for 2pm so we don't have enough space. The service should be cut and clear for only allowing people who booked that specific time.

I called and confirmed a day before visiting the town , to see a station with no one to attend neither they respond the call . There were a few people like us who came with booked ticket in advance just to see an unattended railway station .Poor Communication and hospitality. Atleast place a board to let know the patrons to return home and not to wait , even after making advance booking .

While it was lovely what we experienced... we also had a breakdown and put out for a few extra hours.. rescued by a bus... and had no correspondence regarding a free pass or partial refund. We didn't get to see town as we're extremely late for our return trip.I'm sure when it runs well it's fabulous. We were just unlucky.Lots of dogs in open carriage.

Beautiful Hidden Gem.Highly recommend spending the day in Walhalla.Train Ride followed by BBQ lunch in Stringers Park, stroll through town visiting the old post office full of history.We spent the afternoon at the Long Extended Tunnel Gold mine.Perfect day out for the family, couples and friends wanting to explore.

It was magical! With limited physical ability,I needed a way to explore Australia and Steam Rail's Snow Train to Walhalla gave me the opportunity. Breathtaking natural views, winding road by the side of hills and ice cold river - very calming and soothing experience. Highly recommended.
