Great place to eat as well as do a workshop learning about pottery. I am a mosaic artist so I have attended quite a few hands on workshops here with the view to getting more refined results from my own pot plants and terracotta bases for my many projects. The accommodation onsite is also very unique and self sufficient, and there are many different types of accommodation available for all budgets. There is many walking trails and quiet spots to sit to relax and unwind. The road from Newell Highway to Pilliga Pottery can be accessed in all cars when dry but don’t attempt if it’s wet or recently rained as it’s very slippery and boggy. If in doubt, ring ahead.

Had a lovely breakfast of yummy pancakes and coffee here - so glad we took a look after all these years of driving along that highway! Will definitely go every time from now on!

A unique family stay! We're delighted we chose Pilliga Pottery / Barkala Farmstay. We camped for three nights and did a pottery workshop, mountain biking trails from the property, treks in the nearby Warrumbungles national park and loved it all. This business is family-run and the staff are all professional and passionate. There is passion in every detail: food, decor, making it all a very special place.Highly recommend for families, those who want to experience a different environment and who like to be off-grid (and dont mind limiting time in shower for example). We loved it all. Ah, and the home-made gelatos are SO worth the trip, already!

The drive was long but there were emus and kangaroos to see. The cafe was quite nice. I had a brick oven pizza and gelato. The store has beautiful pieces of artwork. The shop is where the classes take place. It's a nice set-up and people were friendly.

A hard working family has created an oasis of creativity for others to enjoy in a very rural area of NSW. We stayed with our dog and two kids in the campsite area (Goana campsite) and landed up extending our stay a few nights. You come for the quiet of the area, the star gazing, the nature walks, the convenience and quality of the cafe (great coffee and wonderful staff), the swimming pool (it was 37 degrees when we stayed and the pool was a lifesaver) the freedom to bring your dog along, and the staff members who will grant you their time if you have a genuine interest in knowing more about their craft and story. The pottery and clay classes are a good way to enjoy the place and you will not need to go anywhere else. (Wednesdays the cafe is closed) The road up to the farm is the same as any rural Australian road and this place will be enjoyed by all who appreciate enormous amount of effort, love and sustainability.

Beautiful stop near the warrumbungles national park. A real treat! The dirt road isn’t in the best condition at the moment (Dec 22) but it’s passable for 2wd if you take it slow. I’ve got a small 2wd suv and made it fine from newell highway but at about 30kmh. I cranked up the music, relaxed and enjoyed the trip :)The pottery is beautiful and very unique. It was lovely to wander around and I couldn’t resist buying something.I spent a very peaceful hour and a half sitting at the cafe reading a book in the shade and having lunch. Despite being one of the hottest days of my trip it was cool under the trees. I can highly recommend the bratwurst, coffee and chocolate cake!!

I stopped to camp one night and really glad I chose here rather than one of the more expensive campsites in town. Charming little place run by super friendly staff who showed me where I could do some hiking on the property. Shower and flushing toilets were very clean and the camping area is large enough you can easily find a quiet space. Very good value, I highly recommend.

Visited here recently and purchased some beautiful pots. I was on a long driving holiday and the lady who looked after me arranged for a friend to transport the pots to within a couple of hundred km of my home so I could pick them up on my way through. They were ready and waiting when I got there. There is a wide range of pottery available from coffee mugs to mythical dragons, pots, tea pots etc. The garden out front is decorated with their own work and it looks lovely. There is an attached cafe as well.Be aware that you must approach from the highway and ONLY TURN AT THE PILLIGA POTTERY SIGN. If you approach from the other end of the road the road is closed so please take care.Above all it is worth the visit.Cheers
