Phillip Swimming & Ice Skating Centre

2.5 starsThis is the only ice skating rink in Canberra, so what you get is elevated prices, mediocre service and a large crowd.The ticket booth opens at 8:30, but I wish they started selling tickets earlier. At 8:30, the queue is a couple dozen people long, and it takes 20 minutes to be cleared. In reality, you're not paying for 2 hours in the rink.The EFTPOS machine was down, which was not the owner's fault, but it was handled pretty terribly. Cashless, ill-prepared customers like myself were stuck outside for over 1 hour in cold weather, the whole while being treated like we were the nuisance. When we politely asked questions, the owner was already fed up with us, waving his hands helplessly in annoyance like What am I supposed to do?". He righteously stated that the issue "had nothing to do with him"

Great arvo out with 4 kids. They have updated the skates since we last went I think - new ones are really comfy. Great staff.

Small talked with the staff and they were very nice. Usually busy on weekends but not at all on weekdays. The music that was playing in the background were a very excellent choice of trendy pop by the staff.

Always a great place to go for a skate. Make sure you wear warm clothes as it is cold inside. Coffee shop was great.

Little ran down but friendly staff. Good ice rink. Would be nice to see a little money go into this place as it has so much potential.

What better combo than swimming and ice?The Ice skating is super fun if you are feeling adventurous! If skating not your thing during the winter the centre is home of the Canberra Brave, if you haven't seen ice hockey before it's well worth it! Though make sure you get there a bit early if you want a decent seat. During games food and drinks (including alcohol) are available.

So good and an amazing thing to do with children on the weekends

Sure it might not have some of the facilities of other pools but for what it lacks in features it makes up for perfectly maintained water, excellent sized intermediate pool (you just got to try it) and an exceptionally friendly staff. Plenty of grassy shade too and reasonable entry prices. Andrew Barr and his colleagues maybe have given the facility the cold shoulder but the staff and owners at Philip Pool have certainly managed to learn how to keep it all running nicely on a shoestring.

Great atmosphere for hockey

Very fun and easy.Paid for entry and was straight on the ice after wonderful staff helped get us sorted.
