Fairly useless. I tried to get resolution for furniture being provided not matching the sample, and the store agreed to refund the furniture (after working on an exchange for months). However, they would not refund the hefty delivery fee. The lies that the store manager told the officer at Fair Trading was completely self-contradictory, but it was obvious that as soon as the dispute was anything more than a basic phone call Fair Trading had no interest in assisting. Basically just told me to go to QCAT or forget about it.

I bought sale flights to Japan advertised from Jetstar, only to discover hours later that Japan weren't allowing tourists in. I contacted Jetstar and they refused to provide a refund. I mentioned to them that it was a breach of the Australian Competition and Consumer Act due to (1) misleading and deceptive conduct and (2) due to the major fault of a product not being fit for its purpose, this case being a tourist flight. Jetstar still refused to provide a refund several times. Took the issue to the Office of Fair Trading with screen shots and copies of web chat correspondence and emails of refusal from Jetstar. The OFT called me and 3 days later Jetstar emailed me, stating that I would be refunded in full.

Provided QLD OFT with ample photographic evidence of roof tile excessive discolouration from a Brisbane roofing company. The company just told OFT to go away. remind me why the government funds this department again.

Horribly rude manager Joe Grima who is a complete unprofessional with customer service skills.Unreliable with the delivery of contract, yet would not admit their fault.Joe Grima is a person who would make you feel belittled and will put you down as a customerThey have no HR department to sort complaints against such unprofessionalism. The director is hiding from responsibility also. Never available, name non existing, and the receptionist is not far from the manners of Joe Grima.Avoid them because they are sweet only while they catching you. After you paid you are not worth to treat correctly only rudely and you have no rights by them at all. Fair traiding Australia hopefully will sort it out.

The office of fair trading is of little use when having an issue with a seller,under Australian Consumer Law. They did nothing to assist in resolving the issue that I hadnt previously done. Its not even worth completing the online paperwork.Australia Consumer Law is in incompetent hands in this department. Dont watch the videos or read the information they have on their site as it sets an unrealistic expectation. The only actual option is to take legal matters into your own hands or take it to a tribunal.They are a toothless tiger and make no effort in actually getting an outcome.Dont waste your valuable time or energy in thinking you will get a successful outcome from this organisation.

I don't understand the point of this department, it seems like a massive waste of tax payer money. I had no issues with dealing with the office, but they have absolutely zero power to do anything. They tried to contact the retailer on multiple occasions and retailer didn't bother replying to them, from which point they told me I should seek independent legal advice. I really don't understand the point of this department.
