Cold and refreshing. Find a good place to dip your toes behind the Mitta Pub, or pay the $5 entrance fee to the Witches Gardens and ask to access the river from there. Great sunbathing to be had on the lawns.

the mitta mitta river in north east victoria has many places along its banks for camping, pigs point about 15 klms south east out of Tallangatta on the Omeo hwy is popular its not a caravan park but you can camp there it has toilets, its a good spot to throw a line in and relax

The Mitta Mitta is an awesome alpine river that can be followed some of the way from Anglers Rest and Hinnomunjie to the Murray (of which it contributes about 40% of the flow). Snow melt had swollen the river when i followed it in December 2019.It is cool and clean to swim in, and there are many beautiful camping areas along the river.
