Metropolitan Electrical Contractors Ipswich

I had a council tree branch fall on the mains line running to my house. I became aware after hours. Energex turned off power and Metropolitan attended within 2 hours.They provided a written quote for around $6,500 saying it was a complex job. Here's a list of some of the things on the Metropolitan quote that they assured me were absolutely necessary for the job to be done:- Hi-lo work platform (job was done by another contractor using a ladder)- Special device to hold the mains wire (was not necessary)- Custom manufactured steel hockey stick to attach mains box to wide gutters (hired contractor used the standard hockey stick without mods)- Quote for multiple hours to do the job (took one hour)I decided we'd make do without power until I got another quote. I provided the Metropolitan quote to council. They said they handed it around the team and laughed their heads off.The contractor I hired easily completed the job to Energex's satisfaction and charged me less than $1000.I remain gobsmacked at what I struggle to imagine is anything but barefaced dishonesty.

The team was accommodating to my busy schedule, providing seamless and convenient service.

Our tenants wrongly called these people who charged them $4300 up front for a job quoted later by a normal electrician to be worth $1092. Do not use them

Jayden was professional, friendly and also happy to answer a range of questions I had regarding servicing/repairs on other electrical appliances. He provided clear and informative instructions. Very happy with the result.

Absolutely disgraceful - charged 4x for a simple switch replacement. Hundreds of ripped off customers and dozens of “5-star reviews” by bots. Whoever runs this shady “business” - be ashamed of yourself and your greediness.

Had an issue with a smoking light. Electrician came out promptly and ran through the issue with us and was able to diagnose the faulty transformer. The unit was replaced with a modern LED light and it was tested. Area was cleaned up to our satisfaction. JG was polite, knowledgeable and approachable. 10/10 will use again.

These guys have to be the most expensive sparkys out there. All they want to do is rip off every person off. I'm quite surprised anyone uses them tbh!
