The Broken Hill rail museum is a must for those who enjoy history and love to explore. There are many areas such as the mineral collection, railworks areas, immigration display and medical collection. If you are driving by it's worth stopping and visiting this collection of history. $8 per adult gets you in and the staff friendly and kind.

Gee we loved it here. The displays were excellent and we loved walking through the old carriages.Don’t forget to ALWAYS ring the big bell at the window.

Brilliant museum full of interesting things. Plenty of trains are open to explore and much of Broken Hill's history is preserved in the different buildings present.

This can be done after the free precinct guided walk of CBD which is excellent. The museums in this site are all worth a look giving great history of Broken Hill, very good.

What an awesome museum. Small admission fees $20/fam, Adult $10 & children/concession $8. Absolutely worth it. Not only train museum but also migrant museum and hospital museum. Also had Triple Chance Mineral Collection & John Bros Joyland. Really something for everyone. You can even take your pooche for a stroll through the place. Museum is in the old Railway Station. A must see when in Broken Hill. The community and volunteers have done an awesome job.

I am not a train person, but this place blew me away. It is much more than a train museum. A must if you are visiting Broken Hill.

I love-loved this Museum. Must visit. Lots of trains and pieces of the past but my favorites were the heart-warming and inspiring stories of immigrants as they moved to and settled in Broken Hill.

There are trains you can walk through, historical displays and because this is Broken Hill, mineral collections. The museum is quite big for a smallish town and most, if not all, content is local. Some interesting minerals are so common around Broken Hill that no one puts them on display, so visiting old mine sites and lookouts would complement what can be seen in museums. Also a walk among the historic buildings in town and looking at the mullock heap will put the historic information in context.

Great Museum, especially if you like railways, as I do, but also has a very good selection of our life is items relating including hospital/ambulance equipment, carriages/Road vehicles. Well maintained by a voluntary staff, very clean and tidy, toilet facilities are available.
