Every time I go to Aldi, there is never enough staff on, and so I usually avoid shopping there altogether. However, today at Strathpine Aldi, I was quite surprised at the customer service excellence from one of their female staff members, Kirra.I must admit, I initially walked into the store to buy women's sanitary pads for the pink charity box out in front of the store, something that used to embarrass me, but this was for a good cause so I thought I would give Aldi another go and put male pride aside.I'm glad I did, because not only was I stepping out of my own comfort zone to do something for someone else, and having no job and very little money myself, it was nice to see such a wonderful smiling face at the checkout when making the final purchase. The sanitary napkins were $1.99 for a box of 16, which included pads and tampons in the same pack. They had long, regular, and thin options. But don't ask me what that is all about, I already get angina just thinking about it.I perused the middle section to see if there were any unnecessary purchasable's, and alas I was able to find two padlocks for $6.99. The locks were for a large aviary with two rare birds. On a side note, I took on these birds (and aviary) yesterday to help take care of them for a lady that was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. Not only did I appreciate the cheap prices, as I am desperate for work (applied at Aldi funny enough and got rejected, even though I have managed large retail stores with very big profit margins), but I also appreciated Kirra's outstanding ray of light shining from checkout counter number 1.I internally rolled my eyes as I approached the checkout line, because in typical Aldi style, they were looooooong. Even though they have four operational counters, and plenty of people who want to work there, they only use two counters for huge amounts of loyal paying shoppers. How does that work?Luckily though, as I stood there with a shelf box of 10 smaller boxes of women's sanitary pads and two locks, I saw Kirra serve a customer with the biggest smile, and the kind of bold spirit that you would love to see from a customer service agent, but rarely do.She picked up a bunch of flowers that a shopper was buying and said, oh are you buying these for me? Thanks"

It's a bit smaller than some other Aldi stores but that's ok. They still DON'T have Duck Fat glazed frozen potatoes...I don't think they will be having them in their stores this year, which is a shame.

Word of advice , don't shop at woollies first unless you're prepared for them to hustle through your entire shopping double checking your receipt. I've opted out of a paper receipt so my proof of purchase goes to my rewards app. That's great untill your phone goes flat and you can't pull it up. The bogan woman on the checkout requested I return to woolworths and ask for a receipt to be printed.she expected me to leave my overflowing trolley in aldis.Nothing like being treated like a theif.. can't help but assume my deadly choices shirt contributed to her opinion of me.Not kool aldi..

Aldi needs to concentrate on stocking more grocery items and less of the stuff they have in the middle of the store. A German owned company and they don't even sell mustard. If I shop at aldi I have to go to woollies to get what aldi don't stock. Their prices aren't that much cheaper anyway.

Some really good bargains here, large range staple groceries and special buys regularly. Prices comparable to Coles and woollies. The checkout service efficient, an experience first timers always remember- returning to shop 2nd time and more when the savings realised.
