Rockbox cajon maker

Visited Steve yesterday to suss out what sort of cajon would suit me best. I’m not settling anywhere for too long so we had to find the most ideal one, which needless to say with Steve’s knowledge and help we did. Stayed at his workshop for roughly an hour trying out multiple cajons. Every one I tried resonated a crisp, subtle, yet powerful sound. All handmade and you can tell there isn’t a timeline put on finishing these, they’re ready whenever Steve feels is best. All so sturdy and made with a passion for percussion! Very pleasing to the eye also. After enjoying a jam and a good chat I came away with the flamenco cajon, the smaller version of your usual one. I was so impressed by the sound from it, and even found after that when played in the best acoustics area it sounded even better/more powerful than regular sized cajons I’ve played before. It’s perfect while I’m living and moving around Australia for the next 2 years, couldn’t be happier! I have to reiterate how incredible the higher standard cajons were as well, if I was settling in the one place I’d spend the extra bit for sure, best sound from any cajons I’ve played/heard. Couldn’t recommend more!

I bought one of his Cajons in early 2020. It was far better than I anticipated it would be. It has a distinct sound that is louder and warmer on the ears than any factory Cajon I've ever played. I will be back when I get my next tax refund.

My 8 year old has wanted a cajon for years. Steve was recommended to me by a family member who had bought a drum from him in manly. Despite being in the middle of moving up north when I contacted, with very few drums available, he still went above and beyond to make it possible. Steve is a professional and a gentleman. He really took the time to walk me through the different styles of his very unique Rockboxes and let me try a bunch for myself. They have a fantastic sound, quite a variety of tones, and each drum has its own unique character. Take the ferry out to Manly and give Steve a visit. You won’t be disappointed!

I have a guitar teacher who has a cajon rockbox. They are fantastic so I met with Steve and after telling him how I wanted to use the box and the music that I like, he selected a couple to try.He really is the expert with these drums and I'm totally happy with his advice and my new drum.

I spent about 2 hours here with Steve and he really cares about making sure I was happy with my cajon. I tried almost every cajon he had, and when I found the one I liked, he tuned and retuned and retuned again until it made the sounds I was looking for. Thank you Steve for everything. I will be coming back when I add another cajon to my collection :)

Steve was awesome throughout the process of selecting the right Cajon and took the time on the weekend to provide a personal service by taking videos and recordings to ensure I was getting an excellent product as in interstate purchaser.
