Toymate Castletown

There should be a zero star rating. This business is the most manipulative and unprofessional business I have come across. I was a customer and I witnessed the manager ‘Emma’ was her name, yell at one of her junior staff members to which the junior staff member started crying. This was done in front of many customers and I felt so sorry for the poor girl. Since that incident I have heard from many other people, (word of mouth is huge) about the poor treatment of juniors by the same manager at ToyMate.

Lots of toys including outdoor play, sports, art/craft, Lego, dolls, cars and construction. Lots of Lego sets including Creator and Harry Potter. Well set out and spacious store located near Coles.

Great store, was just there. 2 staff at checkout, me waiting. They were joining something to do with store. Skinny staff member (male) came up and when one staff member finished they went off together. Sorry to leave the product near counter but not good enough.

Amazing toy shop. Only downside… Many products stacked on shelved with incorrect price tags

If I could leave minus 10 stars I would! The rudest and most incompetent manager! Made us wait 40 minutes while she reviewed the security footage to find why the item we wanted to buy was in the wrong place with the wrong label. Decided a customer had put it there. Did not have the courtesy to come out and tell us herself and sent a junior member of staff. Did not offer to meet us half way or try to find a resolution to keep both parties happy and ensure our future support for the store. When I told the young man I would be leaving a Google review about his manager? He said good luck, we aren't on Google! This is what makes people buy online and not support local stores. Never again! Just ruined a perfectly pleasant Christmas shopping day for us.

Great Staff, great location, great stock, but what is with the 20 questions and the used car salesman approach to customers at the checkout that you must make your staff perform? Trying to upsell to everybody and get them to join clubs etc is annoying and clearly uncomfortable for the staff to do before having a normal customer interaction.. If that is standard practice then I dont think I will be returning

great toy store to visit, to browse orbuy something for family/friends, oryourself as gifts / special occasions.

Nice shop, friendly helpful staff.Only thing that puts me off going back is all the pressure at the register. All the questions, an asking to buy more. The questions about join this, buying this is just to much.While I'm trying to control my kids I'm a toy shop. All I really want is to pay for my items and go, your not Maccas. No other toy stores put so much pressure on you at counter. I'm sure staff aren't happy about the list of questions
