Everything was delicious, it had a cozy and fun vibe, the owner/chef is super nice and we chatted for awhile. We had the fried prawn bento box and a fried tofu soup bento box. The prawns had great flavor the rice was good, coleslaw was tasty, all of the side dishes were delicous. The food was rich and zingy. We'll be coming back!

While the quality of the food is fantastic, I've noticed that the prices have gone up and portion sizes have become smaller. I think $6 for a miso soup is a little over the odds in particular. It can also get very cramped at the sushi bar, as booths were only available for groups of 3 or more the last time I dined here. What's the point of having the booths in the first place if they can't be used, thus freeing up space at the bar? I don't enjoy being squashed in like a sardine.I still give this venue a decent rating because the overall service and food quality are excellent, but there are a couple of small issues.

Cozy place.... really feels like you're in an izakaya shop in Japan. Chef and staff were friendly. Music was a little too loud. Just having NHK switched on would be good. Overall, food was +/- standard except for how the sashimi were sliced. Always room for improvements. Keep it up :)

My wife and I enjoyed dinner here last night while on a petty hills getaway.Wow, really authentic food & atmosphere. Sashimi was stunning & the octopus balls were the most tender we’ve tasted. It was very busy but this didn’t impact the service. Would definitely come back here again

A beautifully decorated and gorgeous setup. It has all the hallmarks of a small town Japanese restaurant/food outlet. If you haven't been to Japan and would like to know what it maybe like. This is a place to try out for that experience.Cosy setting and seating, not big but that is all part and parcel of the experience. With the menu Umami flavors pack a punch here so if its flavor you seek this is the place. The dishes are large and well presented.A big surprise is the Vanilla and Soy ice cream.Service is friendly and cheerful.I think there are new owners because as far as I was aware it was a Japanese family that was running the small restaurant. But I could be mistaken.Abit on the pricey end and its BYO.

Must go place! Excellent food. They make all their food in house. Portions are decent size and pricing is fair (maind dish as bento box is approx in between $25-$35). Very cosy vibe. Owner is such a sweetheart. 5* recommend.

Fantastic little place in Kalamunda town center. Great ambiance, felt like I was back in Kyoto. I have many visits here and it has always been good. Great food. Have to say one of the best bento presentation I’ve seen and tastes great too. Currently only opens for dinner. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations. Best to get there early as seats fills up quickly and waiting time might be long if you turn up late. . It really is well worth the wait though! Weekdays are not as busy as weekend.
