Fantastic place to train with awesome coaches, and a wonderful community feel. No ego's, just friendly people always willing to give their knowledge and experience. And with Prof Guga and his coaches, there is a lot of BJJ knowledge!

Really friendly and welcoming environment, fun place to train!Update After a Year:A great place to train with professors and coaches who genuinely care about sharing Jiu Jitsu. I moved away and Professor Guga helped me with finding my new gym to make sure I continue my Jiu Jitsu Journey. Definitely check this gym out!

GB Newcastle City has a welcoming, friendly, supportive culture at the heart of a very professional martial arts gym. Experienced, responsible, professional instructors lead the team. Professor Guga welcomed my three children who have thrived under his coaching and have made great friends with their peers. My son Zak likes to compete in the BJJ competitions held around Australia and especially values the guidance and technical expertise taught to him. Our 3 children (as soon as the 4th is old enough she will join too!) absolutely love Gracie Barra and have been members for 18 months. As GB students, their respect for self and community, discipline and skills are always developing and advancing at a rate that continues to surprise me. Professor and coaches are all excellent and the children are inspired to be their best selves under their guidance. We are confident our children will be GB students into adulthood and feel very fortunate to be part of such a wonderful community. I would highly recommend GB to other parents.

Gracie Barra Newcastle is the best place for women to learn BJJ in a welcoming environment. I began here in 2021 and have never looked back. A great bunch of women to train with and the guys are awesome. Professors are professional and exceptionally good at what they do. The standard is super high. Culture is great.

The coaching staff and team at Gracie Barra Newcastle City are highly skilled, professional and friendly. The culture of training and learning Jiu-Jitsu at this gym has been incredibly rewarding. Fantastic training environment. Staff are friendly and the training is 1st class. Professor Guga has a deep level of Bjj and his attention to detail is 2nd to none. Egos are left at the door and everyone training there helps those around them. I started there as a newbie 3 years ago and have always felt comfortable, safe and confident that I have been given the personal attention to my training at all times. All ages and levels of fitness are welcome. Can’t recommend highly enough.
