Phenomenal food and friendly staff, nothing else quite like it on the Northern Beaches. Definitely recommend!

Do yourself a favour take a drive up to Newport and visit this restaurant. It's tucked away on a side street. Food is packed with flavour abs showcases some traditional favourites. A holiday ambience and beautiful decor with friendly staff. Great for families or that romantic night out for two.

Pleasant atmosphere and service. Wind funnels in this street. Try inside on windy evenings. The food was disappointing. HARD, chewy, white fish in a tasty spice curry. HARD and inedible flatbread slices. Waitress said ‘how it is’.Oh no it is not. Teeth breaking flatbread?!Very DRY Baklava. Old and stale? Old frozen fish? Overpriced cheap wine.Lovely staff, particularly male maître d’.

Restaurant decor is very colourful and feels authentic. Small concise menu which is a positive as some restaurants can be overwhelming, still plenty of dishes to choose from.Would highly recommend the entree platter, it gives a nice taste of all entrees.For mains we had Kabul Pallow, very nice tasting, light flavours. Also the Chicken Kabob. The chicken was cooked very well and had some nice flavours to it.Whilst the dishes were nice the flavours while tasty were not intense, as in they didn't have a punch or wow factor, perhaps this is just personal preference though.Would recommend to visit Sahar, although don't sit near the front door in winter as the cold air blows through and the staff are constantly going through back and forth to the tables outside.

Tasty food and friendly service. Nice spot in Newport to dine in or we often get this as something different for home delivery. Delicious starters and lamb mains (avoid the Afghan naan, it is like cardboard - possibly how it’s meant to be?)

Very poor service by the man in white. Asked for butter with the bread for a young baby, he said they don't have butter. Went out for a smoke and just started serving tables without any hygiene practises.Other staff especially the girl with plaster on was v v helpful. But the man needs to learn some manners if he needs to work in hospitality sector.Food was ok as lamb in meat platter was hard as rock but lamb with the rice was perfect.

Finally we have discovered this hidden little gem of a restaurant, on this perfectly balmy summer evening. The food was delicious and in total harmony with all the decor.

Had an amazing dinner at Sahar, the eggplant starters were to die for, and chicken kebab was the best meal I’ve ever had. Thanks for an epic anniversary dinner!

Had a fantastic birthday dinner at Sahar, the stuff were awesome! We chose the banquet, which allowed us to try a variety of amazing dishes. Everything was amazing - 10/10 highly recommend!

Sahar Afghan Restaurant
Not really Afghani food, we asked for kebab and we got giant kebab which tasted horrible. Naan wasn't fresh at all, kabli palaw was very dry and the meat was more than rice - The place might be good for people who are not Afghan and who don't know the real taste of Afghani food.
