Daydream Island Resort and Living Reef

I wouldn't waste my money going here again.The good parts are the living reef and food was tasty however expensive.Staff are really friendly people but clearly haven't been trained in how to run a resort. Very disorganised.Even if food was good. There are not enough options... monday and tuesday...1 restaurant open for lunch and dinner... rest of the week you have 2 for dinner...Rooms aren't bad but not worth what they're charging. They don't even have items in the mini bar. And when you do ask for items they are stale.Theres also no beach to sit at and any grassy area is full of wallaroo droppings and cheeky birds so can't even enjoy a picnic or relaxation.Another important thing to note is if you have any accidents or medical issues it won't be dealt with in the right manner as there are no trained staff on site and no one knows of emergency plans. We unfortunately found this out the hard way when we had an iccident with our baby.Thankfully shes okay but we had to deal with everything ourselves...even calling for emergency services.The owners clearly have saved money on training and basic comforts.Again I wouldn't waste my money going here.

Kangaroos and curlews inside restaurants while guests are dining. Kangaroos taking napkins off tables and pooing right beside guests eating inside the restaurant. We seen 8 curlews, 4 seagulls and 2 kangaroos walking around inside the restaurant pinching food while we were eating. Absolutely disgusting. When I approached staff members to do something about it, their simple response was “that’s just what happens here”.The kangaroos have destroyed all of the lawn/ turf in the resort so even the resort looks a little worse for wear. Have to watch your step when walking inside any restaurant, building or reception are otherwise you will walk through kangaroo droppings.The rooms were somewhat clean though black mould found in all corners of the shower and growing thick in the air conditioner. Phone in room wasn’t working. You have to purchase drinking water. They don’t stock mini bars at all, if you want something reception tells you to go purchase it from one of the bars and just take it to your room “it’ll be a easier and you’ll get what you want” was their response. They need to think about rewording their website because “luxury” and “tranquil” are not how I would rate daydream island.Very disappointing considering the price you pay to stay in these places.

Perfect place for a relaxing holiday. The resort brings out a luxury, exquisite and intimate vibe. Also, it is designed to blend in with nature. You can see a lot of kangaroos and birds around. There are not many people around which is good. You feel like you have the whole island for yourself. Beautiful views (beaches, walking trails). Pools by the ocean are absolutely gorgeous. Everything on the island is included and free to access.

Trip was great but dissatisfied with one of the tours “ Ocean Rafting “ sold through the resort, and the resorts miscommunication of the tour terms.Unfortunately neither the tour company or resort did anything to assist and basically blamed each other. $600 + for the tour, very unhappy. Really a shame as the only mark on a great holiday.

The staff go above and beyond and a particular mention to Sophie and Brett who were just beyond fantastic in helping me out with my baby and getting me to a wedding on time after a tap burst in the bathroom. I personally haven't seen such a high level of customer service within Australia in a very long time. 5 star service, Thankyou

I don’t usually write reviews but I felt like I needed to due to the large number of negative reviews. My boyfriend and I have stayed at the resort for the last few nights and have had an awesome time. Firstly, it was considerably cheaper to stay here rather than Hamilton, so we had realistic expectations of what the resort would be like. The food at the restaurants has been awesome. The room is good, large bed with a beautiful view of the water. The amenities are great, pools, plenty of activities offered by the resort. We had a lot of fun on the JetSki tour, the instructor was great. I was able to organise a cake for my boyfriends birthday and the staff were absolutely lovely and helped me to ensure he had a great birthday. It’s great to be able to interact with the wildlife, the kangaroos and the cockatoos especially. We have both thoroughly enjoyed our time here and wouldn’t hesitate to return !

It’s surprising how anyone could give this place less than 5 stars - all been good for us and we have pretty high standards. One issue although not huge. We have travelled globally and rarely do hotels not include some complimentary water - especially as the hotel has signs about the water and it’s not drinkable - 4$ is a little steep to pay for water. Hasn’t spoilt our stay but hey guys people are paying a lot to stay here so a few bottles of water per client is no big deal - really???

A great experience at Daydream Island Resort. There’s lots to do for everyone, and lots of tours available for the daytimes if you want to escape the beautiful island. It is quite clear that some staff members need additional training both behind the bar & front of house service, as the knowledge was not always there and the service felt a little standoffish at times. That being said we met a couple of lovely staff members from around the globe who were happy to help us! The rooms were clean, spacious and modern, though the shower wasn’t great at holding a consistent temperature. Overall a great stay and we will definitely be returning.

My husband and I had the most wonderful weekend away at Daydream Island. It was truly paradise. There's plenty to do on the island itself. The food was fantastic and the breakfast buffet was superb. We were pleased with our room and the fantastic staff that work at the resort. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay and have already recommended to our family and friends. Thank you to Cheryl for being so informative as soon as arrived which made our stay even more enjoyable.

What an amazing time! Everything from check in to even after check out was fantastic. We had such a good time we are looking at booking our next trip after checking out this morning!! Everything was outstanding from the rooms, to the restaurants and the facilities but wow the staff were a huge standout. They couldn’t do enough for us from beginning to end and really made our experience what it was. A big thank you to daydream island resort for such a fantastic long weekend, we will be back!
