Rachel and The Honest Canine have made such a difference for us with our little dachshund! Phoenix is THE typical red snag - smart, curious, and oh so willful! We were struggling to find the best ways to communicate with him and make sure he kept his bravery, but learned that he wasn't always in charge. Rachel's positive and supportive style was exactly what we needed. She is calm, present, and really takes her time to understand you and your dog. Her intake process was thorough and helped us really understand what specifics we needed help with. Her consultation was effective and by the end we could already see the changes we humans needed to make to support our pup in growing into his best self. She has been amazing with any follow up questions we've had and we will FOR SURE continue to use her services if/when needed to make sure our little dude grows into a balanced, confident, calm pup! He's been thriving!

We had such an amazing experience with Rachael and since starting training there has been a huge improvement in my dogs level of stress and anxiety. We both have learnt so much and I have a stronger relationship with my dog, that I now feel confident and comfortable to enjoy day-to-day activities (and more) with my dog. Cannot recommend Rachel enough! I did a 10 week program with her for my Border Collie who we were having issues with around stalking and trying to chase bikes and cars, as well as reactivity issues with other dogs etc. Before I did the program with Rachel I couldn’t walk my dog in town because of her behaviours, now I can walk her through busy parks with no issues! Rachel taught me how to properly communicate with her and made both of our lives so much better. Rachel teaches everything in such an easy way to understand and goes well beyond the basic obedience training you get with a lot of dog trainers, I’ve learnt so much more about properly understanding my dogs behaviour and psychology. Without Rach, I don’t know where I would be. My dog struggled to socialise, didn’t really want to be patted, was easily distracted during recall and pulled on his lead constantly. Rach reviewed our interactions and recognised where we were going wrong and how to correct our mistakes. She provided a clear training plan and provided guidance on correct technique. My dog who avoided pats is now my hot water bottle. Rach, you’re the best!

Rachel is incredible with dogs, but more importantly people. Beyond just basic obedience that other trainers recommended me (anyone with a handful of food can get a dog to do anything) Rachel really helped me and my dogs communicate and also got one of my dogs off death row as a ‘dog being a dog’ “issue” left one trainer recommending I have her put to sleep. I can happily take my dogs out in public and can pick up on their cues for when they’re uncomfortable. I have an amazing relationship with my dogs all thanks to Rachel and her expertise.Thanks Rachel.

Rachel is without a doubt the best dog trainer. She is nothing like all the other typical dog trainers who all teach outdated ineffective training that leave the owners feeling like failures when it doesn't work. We bought in Rachel to address some on going issues we were having with our Australian Shepherd. We had been using methods that are commonly taught and while they helped reduce the behaviour they didn't work to eliminate the behaviour entirely even after a few months. Rachel from the start has provided such a top level of customer service and even after one session I am already feeling significantly less stressed around training our dog, as the different techniques she showed us have already made such a difference in a few hours! If you want a trainer that is going to provide better then five star service and whose expertise and knowledge is so broad you know you'll find the right way to address your dogs behaviour then you can't go past The Honest Canine.

Rachel is amazing at getting to the source of the behaviour.I adopted a 2yo rescue Amstaff in with severe anxiety in 2019.I contacted Rachel about 6 months after adoption as his progress stalled.Using the methods she recommended he has come so far, I am always surprised how easy it is to teach new things and Rachel is always there if new problems come up.She's always happy to problem solve and really worked with me, always offering other options if I didn't like a method or it wasn't working.

Rachel is just amazing - she’s great with dogs but also people, explaining what’s happening in ways we could understand. Her programs are realistic and attainable long term solutions to issues, rather then band-aid solutions that only last until the next problem. We’ve never been worried about reaching out for help, or concerned she will judge us. She has helped us with many of our dogs, including our border collie rescue who in the beginning we couldn’t even pat and was reactive on lead (due to trauma) to who now loves nothing more then a big cuddle after a walk. We’ve also used her foundation training programs for our new dogs and find it sets them up for success. If you want a long term solution and a great relationship with your dog she’s the trainer for you!
