Mas & Miek Ceramic House

I have had the joy of attending classes and casual evenings for a year now with the incredible team at Mas and Miek. Not only are the teachers skilled, they are caring and interesting individuals who create an environment where learning is celebrated and fun. I love my casual throw classes with Fred (Fridays) and Claudia (Sundays) where I continue to learn new skills and have a great time doing so. Thanks to the team at Max and Miek!!!!

I’ve done multiple courses since April (throwing and hand building) and the teachers (Sacha, Fred, Ruby, Claudia) are always super helpful and ready to answer any questions. If you’re lost they always kindly suggest ideas or modifications that might suit your aesthetic.

I’ve done a couple of courses at the ceramic house now and would recommend to anyone interested in trying out a new hobby! The teachers are great and give you plenty of guidance. If you have a specific form or technique in mind they’ve been more than willing to demonstrate (shoutout to Fred and Sasha!) And it’s so satisfying seeing the progression of your pieces over the weeks.

Loved the fun and relaxed environment. A really nice space to learn. Fred is a fantastic, skilled and encouraging teacher. I will definitely look at another course in the new year. Personally, I would have preferred a bit more instruction but I did learn a lot and I'm excited to pick up my pieces.

This studio is excellent. The teaching staff are outstanding and the studio itself is beautiful and very well organised. I highly recommend it to everyone from beginners to experienced ceramicists.

Did the one day wheel throwing intro class with my partner and we loved it! The teacher, Sacha, was friendly, funny and an excellent teacher - really great at explaining or showing things differently if anyone was confused. The space is beautiful and calming, and the massive platter we had during the class was such an awesome addition. Even after the class when I emailed to check on our work, the staff member I dealt with via email, Charlie, was very responsive, friendly and made the whole experience. We also felt the class was well priced for what you get, considering the no doubt hours of prep and post-class steps that go into the experience. Can't wait to come back!

Absolutely love coming here on a Friday evening. Fred has help my partner and I up our pottery game so much. I went from not minding if I dropped a piece to treasuring it like an ancient artifact. Such a beautiful studio, awesome people to help you create and has a nice, laid back atmosphere surrounded by gorgeous plants12 out of 10

I absolutely loved the 6 week beginners throwing course at the beautiful Morningside studio. I thought the cost of the course was good value and was surprised at the unlimited amount of clay we could use, and the great selection of glazes available. I ended up with 10 beautiful vessels to take home but some others in my class had many more. I would only make one suggestion. On the first day when we were shown the different steps on the wheel, Imogen demonstrated all the steps in one go before we were able to start practicing ourselves, and by the end of step 4, I had forgotten what step 1 was! I would have preferred a demonstration on centering and then getting us all comfortable on this step first before moving on to the next step. But maybe that’s just me! Have definitely got my eye on a few more courses so I will be back in the new year!

My husband got this a birthday gift and this place was such a vibe :) it was really fun and 5hours felt like 5 min although my muscles beg to differ. Would have loved to have prettier glazes available but thats the only thing. Would def be back for longer classes if my life was not so busy.
