Sometimes all you want are chips! Hadn't been here before but in area so got takeaway. Small chips, 2 potato cakes, fried cauliflower bites and a piece a flake for husband. I had salad roll at home so put potato cake in it and delicious! Chips were nice but shouldn't have bothered with the cauliflower. Would have given 3 stars but increased to four because they also sell hot jam donuts! And if you've read any of my other reviews you know I can't go past hot jam donuts. But I've had better. Nice location, lots of seating outside and can see how on a warm afternoon it would be nice sitting outside having chips and wine and watching Highett happen.

This restaurant which at first sight appears to be just a brightly lit cafeteria serves the most delicious fried flake & chips! We also enjoyed a very fresh green salad and had a glass of the house rose which was pleasant. The staff are amazingly hospitable and welcoming and seem very happy! The prices represent really good value. This place is highly recommended for fish and chip lovers (also serves higher end fish varieties such as salmon and John Dory).

The hunky dory meal was perfectly cooked, especially the flake itself. The fish burger was also cooked perfectly and nicely spiced sauce but the salad inside was too sour and bland. Calamari salt and pepper were also cooked to perfection and the side sauce was nice.

we popped in for a quick dinner and had swift service. portions were large, sufficient and fresh at affordable prices. we were not hurried out; they were happy for us to hang out after our meals were done. all satisfied and we would definitely come back if we ever feel like fish again.

I ate at Hunky Dory Highett for the first time a few weeks ago with my husband and daughter and could not have been more impressed! The food was genuinely delicious. We ordered the grilled fish pack (and paid for some additional fish). Everything was cooked to perfection. The addition of chips and salad made for a terrific combination. We also had a glass of pinot grigio, which was the perfect accompaniment. My daughter also loved her meal. The service from waiting staff and management was really friendly, attentive, professional and efficient. Will definitely be back and can highly recommend!

We drove 45 mins to eat at this store with my bro-in-law. Was very impressed. Not greasy and reasonably priced, as well as quick, friendly service. Would definitely visit again when back in Melbourne.
