Taste Jamaica

Love that jerk chicken! Shout out to Mark Wiens for his Jamaica episode. Thankfully we didn’t have to travel far for good Jamaican food. Taste Jamaica fits the bill and is located in Geelong, only an hour’s drive from Melbourne. See Damian who will set you up with a nice cold pint of Irie and a platter you won’t regret. Jerk chicken dipped in scotch bonnet hot sauce is simply amazing! P.S. Don’t forget to check out their authentic Jamaican bottled sauces downstairs.

Wow, what a taste explosion. We heard about taste Jamaica and thought we must try it.The jerk platter allowed us to try a full range of what they have to offer and we were not disappointed the food is full of flavour. The jerk chicken was our favourite with a beautiful charcoal chicken base flavoured with Jamaican spice and topped with bbq sauce. The drinks are delicious, we had mocktails for a nice refresh on a warm day.The staff were friendly and attentive.If you are around and want something different and delicious for your tastebuds to get into then definitely try Taste Jamaica.

Reggae lives! Excellent vibe to this place; really friendly staff and sublime reggae beats. The jerk chicken is pretty good but the rice wasn't fresh and the coleslaw a bit bland. The oxtail was divine and I enjoyed the fiery Jamaican ginger beer. Probably more suitable as a casual drinking/snack bar> restaurant, but that's great too! I love casual drinking snack bars. Let Jah lead the way!

Popped in since I was visiting friends in Geelong. They were not open but they did allow me to purchase some West Indies products.Owners were lovely and I wish I had time to go back to eat! Next trip to Australia!

I had high expectations given the other reviews, and I was absolutely not disappointed. Great rooftop setup, super friendly staff, and next level legit Caribbean food and cocktails. Very generous portions too - definitely arrive hungry.

The owner of the place is so nice and very accomodating. The Jerk Platter that they serve is very worth it of the price. And the meats included in that platter is super tender and yummy. I really enjoyed the fried plantain.

So delicious food and so friendly staff. I tried Jerk Pork, Pork Rib and Platter. All so good and nice experience. They deserve 5 star.

Now I know why these guys are rated 5 stars on Google - best service we've had in a while and food you would just crave for more of afterward. They have a roof top bar upstairs however we didn't have a booking and the place was booked out at around 4pm. Instead of turning us away, they offered to serve us downstairs, which actually was more suitable as it was away from the loud music and chatter upstairs. We had the beef jerk platter for 2, and the lady that served us was thoughtful to warn us of the spicy dips. She even offered us the sweet chill alternative dip when I said I couldn't handle too hot, that was certainly very attentive of her. It was only us downstairs the whole time but it wasn't like we were forgotten or anything. There are not many places that have both service and food on point, so we will definately be back. Highly recommended!
