Trish and Tony Williams - Our Move to Stafford Lakes Retirement CommunityToday is a beautiful winter's day!!!! The sun is shining on our balcony and as when I look over the lake in the mornings, I feel a great sense of peace as I enjoy my morning cuppa and a slice or two of toast. This morning the lake is very calm, except for a few ripples here and there as ducks and water birds go about their morning excursions around the little island in the lake’s centre. In the near distance at the end of the lake is the administrative and community centre which includes the movie theatre, an excellent and well-equipped gym, lounges, library, and various rooms for community activities. We are frequent users of the indoor swimming pool, which is always held at a very pleasant 30 Degrees Celsius. After our swim, we usually enjoy a spa for about 15 minutes or so, but some residents prefer a Sauna. If you are keen on exercise, there is access to the well-equipped gym and near-by park, or you can take a stroll to the nearby Rode Road shopping centre. The Prince Charles Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital are also within walking distance. We have settled well into our new home and community life. We have become very good friends with our neighbours and have met many lovely people who, to a person, always give you a friendly wave as you drive down through the villa residences with their well-kept lawns and flower beds. Not being great cooks, we especially enjoy the home made sausage rolls and slices provided to us from time to time by our neighbours. Our experience is that management and staff are always friendly, courteous and helpful. If we ever find problems, they are quick to respond. Their communication with residents is first class. We have no regrets in moving to this community. We looked at other close-by retirement residences, but found this community to be particularly attractive and appealing. It is located in suburban areas where we have lived for many years and where we have many friends. In no way do I miss my former weekend tasks of lawn mowing, pool cleaning, gardening and house repairs. My wife loves our Apartment and especially the lesser commitments to house maintenance tasks. We are free to go where and when we like and to catch up regularly with our family who live close by in Aspley. Our two grandchildren often have a sleep-over and we look forward to hearing their news. Our assessment of the life change is that we moved at the right time and have no regrets.Trish and Tony Williams
