NO STARSIn 2002 I telephoned Staffords Hardware in Bega - I spoke to who I didn't know was Brian Heffernan.I advised that I want the mottle glass of a window changed to clear, but it had to be removed without breaking the original.I've known these Staffords and their family members most of my life and that's the only reason I called them first to see if they could do the job. (what's unfolded since I addressed one of their abusive family members from February 2013, has been more stocking).On behalf of Stafford's Hardware Bega, Brian Heffernan told me that the new pane of glass would be $37ish and the labour would be $40 - adding that it won't take longer than an hour and they charge $40 per hour.I left the keys for the trade person, and returned to find the Invoice was more than double.I telephoned Stafford's to address, and found that Brian Heffernan had outsourced the job to his son - who was not employed by Stafford's Hardware.I spoke to Graeme and Ian Stafford of Stafford's Hardware, whose only response was that Brian's son doesn't work for them so they have no control over the Invoice - even though they knew Brian quoted on behalf of Stafford's Hardware, a maximum price before I went ahead.As I was working on having Brian and his son honour the quote, the kids broke a foot high window, so I gave Brian's son the job to show support of him as a tradesperson, as I waited for his honourable conduct to reveal.Nope - Brian's son would not honour the quote that his father provided on behalf of Stafford's Hardware Bega (they still have Kalaru), while I had told Brian's son that I will not be ripped off in this manner and that he needs to change the Invoice to reflect the quote at ballpark price.Next, my father telephoned me to advise that Jan Heffernan and Brian Heffernan's son came into their store to demand the total that was more than double Brian Heffernan's quote on behalf of Stafford's Hardware, and that when my father told Jan Heffernan and Brian Heffernan's son to get out of his store with his vulgar and loudmouth behaviour, Jan Heffernan and Brian Heffernan's son wouldn't get out of my parent's store - so my father walked around from behind store counter where my father and mother (who were in their 70s) were standing, and then Jan Heffernan and Brian Heffernan's son put up his dukes to box with my father. My mother of course stepped in, and when she roared for Jan Heffernan and Brian Heffernan's gutless, mad and abusive son to get out of their store, he finally left.My father said that Brian Heffernan's son seemed like he was off his face and mentally unstable - they've seen my eldest sibling and his wife's besties at family bbqs, so they KNEW WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING AT when Brian Heffernan's (and Jan Heffernan's) adult son was carrying on so insanely and violently - tantrumming and, as the community is aware, not used to people not giving the mad brat his way.I refused the pay the gutless little monster the amount that was more than double the price quoted by his father, Brian Heffernan, on behalf of Stafford's Hardware, so he lodged a Statement of Claim ... the Magistrate actually advised that Brian Heffernan's son has to acknowledge that sometimes he won't be paid for the work he actually does. I was puzzled by such a comment from a professional who was clear about the situation and that Brian Heffernan's son tried to overcharge on a quoted price on behalf of Stafford's Hardware, then verbally abused my parents in their own store, then attempted to physically abuse my father before my mother roared at the gutless mad monster and told him to get out of their store.Those 'business' people who rely on those with authority/influence, to help them continue without being 'checked' for the damage they do.

Only needed a screwdriver but the staff member was extremely helpful and friendly. No photos as I don't get around photographing hardware stores, but from what I saw they have everything you would need for any DYI you require.

They have great stuff, but it is limited. Don't expect Bunnings. It is building hardware. What they DO have is the most brilliant collection of pavers and cement sleepers that don't look cement; palette loads of them. All sorts of that outdoor stuff. Customer service could do with a renovation. You can tell these are blokes that are used to dealing with tradies.

Had everything that I needed. Pavers, sleepers of different sizes and quickset cement. Plenty of room to drive up to what you want.

As abrick collector from Vic. IAsked about old bricks lying around old brick kilns,only wanted one ,the bloke was rude,arrogant, and plain silly.

Good building supplies with excellent advice. Women might have to try a bit harder for service.

Great family business with a generation of member participation. The hardware store side of the shop has expanded to include the rear portion. The storage racks for timber ensure that the quality stays true to shape, (not twisted or bent).
