The rooms are tidy, but it would be great if there was a microwave in the room.Kettle, tea, and coffee (Nescafe) are available in each room. The gym was poorly maintained. The tower was broken, and one of the treadmills was out of order. However, having free weights (dumbbells 1 to 20kg) available at a hotel gym was fabulous!Breakfast buffet was basic, but did the job. Hot options were: Eggs (poached and scrambled), mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans, sausages, bacon, pancakes. Continental options: fruit, yoghurt (greek and fruity), cereal (all bran, sultana bran, special K, rice bubbles, Coco pops, corn flakes), bread (white and wholemeal), Vegemite, butter, peanut butter, jam, cheese, ham, salami, tomato, and pastries. Tea and coffee are also available with a selection of milks (full cream, skim, almond, soy, and lactose free).

We were travelling from London to Perth arriving around midnight, then on to Broome the next day, we wanted a quiet place to sleep, quality breakfast in the hotel and location where we could walk by the river the next day before our plane flight.Did it meet expectations?Booking: NopeWe asked questions with our booking requesting info about how access to the hotel was managed late at night, and times the buffet was available twice. No response received. We booked late check out which allows guests to stay up until 6pm for $60 extra, but most communication after that said I had to check out at different times, leaving me confused about whether it was recorded properly. When we got to the hotel they offered a free late check-out to 12pm, when I had paid.Night sleep: NopeRoom entry cards didn't work, and the person working at reception had gone off to deliver room service, no phone calls to the hotel were answered at that time either. We were left sitting in the hallway with small children for half an hour (keeping in mind it was already after midnight, we have children and we had been travelling for over 24hrs before we arrived - not good). We showered, went to bed then the fire alarm (assumed in the building next door) went off from 1.30am to 2am.Breakfast: Yeahthe buffet breakfast was about what you would expect at a hotel.Location: Beautiful location, we had a lovely morning walk in the sunshine, and took the kids to a playground by the river.Other: staff (night reception and buffet waitress) were very nice to us here.Other: they upgraded our room, but I really see no evidence of anything we got that was 'extra' compared to what was booked, maybe a few metres floorspace or something? Might even be a con so people feel they can complain about stuff.Stay again? No way, the booking process, room access debacle and disruption to sleep means it wasn't worth it

Rooms were a little outdated bit of maintenance would help. Staff were great very helpful and the location was good far enough away from the night life to be quiet enough to sleep early. Heated pool isn't very warm either

Service and location were pretty good.Rooms however were a bit dated. Hard to access bedside power points. AC barely changed the room temperature.Had trouble finding the toilet roll holders being tucked so far under the counter and the shower floors were incredibly slippery.Overall it was a serviceable room.

Check in was a breeze, the room was great, check out was smooth, the staff were friendly and accommodating. Only downside was that when I ordered room service it took 2 hours to arrive and was stone cold. The view was great though, and I had a balcony. The water pressure was excellent and the experience overall was good.

Rooms are dated however very clean and beds very comfortable.Staff at Reception were very nice and helpful. Great location! Very reasonable rates. The young lady on the 4th floor housekeeper was very genuine and helpful. We had to cut our stay short but would not stay there again as we older people 70+ like a quieter environment to sleep in and we found the soundproofing was not very effective. I would imagine it would be great for families.

The lift display showed it was in the year 2000, which is about as outdated as the hotel is. Had to put my shoulder into opening my room door for it to even budge. Door stop was cracked and broken. Some unknown red stain on the bag bench. Tiles in bathroom were cracked, sink tap barely dispensed water into the sink so it makes a mess on the counter and hot water was warm at best (but at least they spruced it up with brand name Kleenex). Walls are very thin so you can hear everything. Only plus was the bed was clean and well kept. All in all, not a 4 star hotel in this day and age.

Can't believe anything positive about condition of our room or even hallway

Rooms are nice. I appreciate a room that doesn't have lots of light pollution after the lights are turned off. For some reason I just didn't sleep well on the mattress though. And being an early riser it took forever for hot water to come through most mornings. Having valet parking was handy but I consider valet parking someone greeting you as you pull up. Not parking and waiting in the reception queue for 15 minutes. There's no signage to indicate this either. Room wasn't set up well for working. Power points are buried behind the nightstand so not easily accessible for charging at night. Staff were all very friendly and courteous.

Very disappointed with our stay at Mercure City Perth. The air conditioner was not working and we got no sleep the whole night as the room was hot and stuffy. Upon calling reception at 3am they could not give us another room or a fan to help. After a full day of waiting we transferred to another room which had the air con working. The phone in the room did not work and no one answers from reception. The hotel is significantly understaffed. Also while the hotel says they have room service and have printed cards with a menu, nothing is available. If they don’t offer room service they should not have a card saying they offer it. When I reported to the staff at reception that we are disappointed, all I got back was “well, this is WA and this is how it is here” I have lived in WA for many years and am astounded on the service and response by the staff. We pay premium price for our stay of 6 nights and the service offered is well below par. There are many other hotels at 4-star that offer much better basics. The basics here were not met and the hotel is at a 3-star or lower. Definitely won’t recommend staying here and won’t be staying here in the future!
