Bruny Island Lighthouse Carpark

Well, it was more than what i expected there. I thought it would be just a light house but a very good scenery view. Bit disappointed for ticket to go up for lighthouse. And yes, it's a gravel road drive for almost 25 min. Very short walk to reach the lighthouse.

This is the southernmost point of Bruny island and the view is amazing. Antarctica is 2,600km South. It’s also a good picnic place if you can get the one table and bench.

Well worth the drive to get here, very picturesque along the way. There are warning signs before you get to the light house if you have a caravan or trailer or large vehicle that there is no turning room at the light house carpark. Take note of the warning!!! There is no room!! Though it is entertaining watching the brave person try and back their rig back down with lots of different languages helping the poor sap, can be entertaining. In fact there is very little room for small to medium size vehicles and the amount it can take is limited to about 20 I am guessing. I guess when they built the light house a hundred odd years ago they didn’t consider the influx of tourist coming to visit!!!The walking trail from the car park to the light house was easy walking and you get some great views when you get there. Again head the signs and stay within the boundary, strong winds and a big drop if you go to far… you know for that perfect selfie… it is not worth it! The lighthouse buildings (not the light house itself, you have to pay for that bit, the rest is fee!) are well worth taking the time to read the stories… wow the wife of the keeper… how she lied here and had that many babies in those conditions… well it is a great story to read for yourself when you get here along with lots of other really interesting stories about this place. Plus you may have a story of your own to take away if some sap tries to park here with a van attached!

Good to note you will need a National Parkspass to lawfully enter the area which includes the lighthouse. Bit late to let people know after they have driven along 20k of dirt road already! Sweet spot though and worth the visit!

It's a long dirt road drive (18 km one way) with some rougher sections but worth it for the amazing scenery at the end.

Heaps of rabbits and birdlife around. Unsealed road to get here, but a regular car will have no troubles

This spot was a highlight on our Bruny island day trip. You’d need to drive on unsurfaced roads for about 10 minutes to get to the carpark, then walk about 300 meters to the lighthouse. The view was stunning and really worth it.

The car park is almost non existent. If you arrive at a busy time you’ll have to park beside the gravel road, & walk back to the lighthouse. So account for this if you are going on a lighthouse tour.
