Breadknife and Grand High Tops walk
Quite a challenge but totally worth the effort of doing it. Going under the breadknife rock was like walking beside an ancient Great Wall, nature windows here and there, where you can see through, and saw wild goats up the mountains- how amazing!

An absolute gem of a hike! This is the reason we came to visit Coonabarabran. Unfortunately, it was rainy/misty on the day when we came to hike, which diminished our views a bit, but the hike was fantastic. We did the 12.5km circuit along with our 7-year-old daughter. It was the perfect mix (for us) of challenging (scrambling over rocks and walking up stairs) and relaxing (ample flat walkways with kangaroos and wildlife).Ticked this off our bucket list! But we might have to do it again when sunny :)

I’m not a hiker but I LOVED this hike. The views up the top are amazing and it’s a great place to have a mid-walk picnic. I’m not fit at all (27f) but found this walk very doable (had to stop a lot to take a break though). I wouldn’t recommend this walk if you have injuries as a large portion of the walk is man-made or natural stairs and the last 1% is steep and you have to climb the rock face. There also aren’t too many people on the hike which is nice. If you’re lucky too you might spot some goats :)

Amaziwalk and just fantastic view, nothing to difficult about it, there are long steep sections but it's all well marked, take some warm clothes is heading up in cooler days as the winds can very strong and quiet cold.Allow 4 hours

Awesome hike with amazing views. I recommend doing the round circuit rather than going up and back the same way. The circuit is about 14 km. Don’t add on the Gould loop unless you want an extra 2.5 km though the view at Matcha Tor is nice.

Spectacular! If you've got bad knees, this may not be the walk for you. Also, doing the full Spirey creek loop may be too much for some older folk as all those stairs and climbing up may stretch things. (someone got into trouble when we were there, wasn't feeling good due to the climb but continued anyway and then needed assistance). The walk itself has spectacular scenery, probably some of the best in Australia, so pack plenty of water, refreshments and lunch. Take a torch just in case you take a wrong turn and are out longer than you planned. Some of the sign posting isn't clear enough.Don't get going too late if you are doing the Spirey Creek loop as you could end up walking in the dark. The Spirely Creek West section is a lot more gentle if you want to spare your knees on the way up.

Breadknife and Grand High Tops walk
The walk to the Grand High Tops is a moderate climb with most of the way on a well formed or sealed path. The last bit is a bit steep and rocky but very manageable. If you have time, take a detour to Bluff Mountain, it's the tallest peak in the Warrumbungles, a bit more strenuous but we'll worth the climb.

Right up there as one of the best walks I’ve ever done. Wonderful unique sights. A strenuous walk. Take enough water and food. There is drinking water near the breadknife. Also I found it really helpful to be able to see exactly where I was and the location of lookouts and water by using the maps.me app on the iPhone. Free app and offline maps with a focus on walking tracks.

This remains one of my favourite walks. Have just done it for the second time in less than a year. So be careful on the way down due to the loose rocks and pebbles on the tracks. The official website recommends 5-6 hours, but we managed to do it quite comfortably in 4 hours (including a considerable break at the summit for lunch and to take in the panoramic views). Will be back!
