The South Melbourne Athletic Club (SMAC) started back in 1929 across track and field events, road racing and cross country running. During the winter months from April to September, the club's focus is on Athletics Victoria’s XCR cross country and road racing and over the summer, the focus switches to the Athletics Victoria Shield track and field competition.The SMAC is located at the Clarke Shields Pavilion Oval No. 11 Aughtie Drive Albert Park Reserve. There is only limited parking at the pavilion itself and while roadside parking is available, it can be difficult to find a spot during busy times when events are also taking place at the other adjacent sports grounds. You also need to be aware that parking fees apply to all marked bays and roadside parking throughout Albert Park. While all profits raised from parking are put back into Albert Park, which is a good thing, another option might be to park along Canterbury Road opposite Fraser Street, which is only a few minutes away, and walk across the Light Rail.
