Food was great. I had the ribs and the meat was so tender it fell off the bones. However I regretted not getting pizza as after trying my partner’s pizza it was devine. Quite possibly the best pizza I’ve ever had! Was a bit weird going into the backpackers to use the loo but otherwise loved it.

We drove from kingscote to try this place out. It's was worth the drive. Best grilled steak ever. Staff, including the owner, was super friendly, and the environment felt so calming. Definitely give a try. People normally get off at Penneshaw and drive straight to kingscote. I personally think kingscote is just the shopping hub for Kangaroo Island. We miss the beautiful sites of Penneshaw and its local businesses. It's got so much too offer. If you around do visit fire and smoke, KI, you'll thank me for it. 100% recommend.

Ordered takeaway for 8 people, a range of fish and chips / calamari options.Food was nice and fish fresh, but when I asked for something to help us carry the individually boxed items to the car, we were rudely told we were “lucky to even get a box” which wasn’t a great impression as we were leaving.Could do with having takeaway boxes (just used cardboard cartons etc) on hand for larger takeaway orders.Update: Thanks to the response from the manager - we appreciate the quick follow up :)

Only order here if you like pizza, and even then make it take away and eat it across the road in the park. While this place has a reputation for good pizza, what people don't seem to mention is the dirty restaurant, stuffy air (they used to have a fan but all the blades are broken?!?), hopeless staff (family run, could use some training?) and the positively third world filthy toilet with no paper.Oh, and I'm sure 'nonna' didn't microwave her lasagna 90 years ago.

Weekend trip to Kangaroo Island: dinner at @fireandsmokeki - great food, no frills, family run. Good stuff!.Squid fries: crunchy and delicious. Really nicely done!.Pan fried local garfish: the garfish was perfect - super super tender! Amazing flavours..Garlic prawn parmigiana: the prawns were really nice - really tender and delicious! The garlic sauce was great. Really loved the fries too!

We had an amazing dinner in this wonderful, family-owned place that we visited last night. From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were part of the family. The jovial service and welcoming atmosphere was truly something special.One of the things that really stood out to me was the pizza-making process. The chef (which may also be the owner) were making the pizza right in front of the customers, and it was a treat to watch him work his magic. The crust was stretched by hand and the toppings were carefully selected and placed, resulting in a pizza that was nothing short of delicious.And the pizza itself? Oh my, it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The crust was crispy and light, and the sauce was bursting with flavor. The cheese was perfectly melted and the toppings were fresh and plentiful. I couldn't help but go back for seconds (and maybe even thirds).I highly recommend this family-owned gem and can't wait to go back for another slice (or two, or three) next time my friends and I are in Kangaroo Island.

Nothing quite like this place anywhere across Kangaroo Island. Highly recommend booking for dinner, the $12 parmi night was very busy. The pizza was 10/10, wife had the lasagne 10/10 and the kids enjoyed the parmy's (HUGE serves) all brilliant. Very welcoming and friendly service talking with the pizza maker and young girl who served us. Will be stopping in again on our way back to the ferry in a weeks time.

Niiiiiice salt pepper prawns! Fresh and perfectly flavored, the coating of the prawn’s is absolutely fine Japanese tempura level. We decided to come back here for a nice last KI dinner of this trip, I ordered Nana’s recipe lasagna and it is fresh, homey, and warming. Thank you for lovely food that makes the KI trip even more memorable:)
