My wife and I enjoyed 2 evening meals at View 42, first night we chose the $75 option which was discounted as we were hotel guests. The second night we were offered the $40 option which was a 1 soup, 1 large plate of “mains” and dessert for each of us. The food was excellent and plentiful, I enjoyed the brisket and the belly pork on both nights, my wife enjoyed the amazing seafood (not all local). For both of us was the amazing service provided by the beautiful Nadia and the rest of the staff. The view from table 5 was amazing, beautiful sunset and then the harbour lights as the sun set. While the decor is a little dated, but you don’t eat the decor. The little lounge with a view of the harbour and bar was a great spot for a pre dinner drink and a relax. Definitely want to go back.

We were put off by some of the comments about this buffet being average, or like an RSL buffet but went anyway and were astounded at how great it was. It may well have been the best seafood buffet we’ve ever been to! I took photos of every dish so people could see and make their own decisions too, but we found all the seafood to be of a very high standard. The salads were varied and quite creative, and all the hot dishes were well executed. There are not many places to eat in Strahan and this one is worth the visit.

If a seafood buffet all you can eat is your thing - then this is a must for you! The seafood was delicious and plentiful. The other food was of a good quality - not the best - but good quality buffet style food. The staff were very very good and helpful and always ensuring the buffet trays were full. The view from this place is absolutely phenomenal- well worth the visit.

The buffet was on offer with fresh seafood, meats, salads and dessert bar. Like most buffets it’s always a trick to compete with the crowd to get to taste everything on offer. For the most part the staff and chefs were able to keep everything stocked up. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly suggest you book ahead of time and was easy todo over the phone.

We booked a big group for 6pm so we could maximise our time here. We also arrived early so we could enjoy the view.The food quality & selection was amazing and there was always more food being put out (we stayed for almost the whole time that the buffet was open). Menaka, who looked after our table, was excellent too and should be commended by management for her service & friendliness.However, the experience did lose a star for the end of the time. The website does not list a price for children which meant we were originally reluctant to go. However, prior to booking, I was told twice that my kids would not be charged. At billing, not only were there issues trying to get the bill correct and process payment, there was an attempt to then to charge for my kids (50% of the adult price for kids between 5-16, no charge for 4 & under - not unreasonable but certainly felt like bait & switch" after what I had been told at the beginning & clearly not marked anywhere). Beautiful restaurant on a hill overlooking the town of Strahan. We went for Christmas Day lunch, which was amazing. There was so much food, of all varieties. And it was very well priced. The Christmas lunch at cradle mountain was over twice the price. Would highly recommend!

Be sure to book.... This restaurant only does a single sitting in a tourist town with limited options.Initial impressions of the restaurant were lovely, we had a view over the harbour and the staff quickly took out orders and bought entrees.Dinner and dessert was quite a lot slower, with some patrons who arrived 39 minutes after us getting their first. We also were not supplied with another knife after the bread and entrees, so needed to share a steak knife with the mains.The food was great to average, we really liked the prawn and ginger dumplings and the Huon mushrooms that came with the filet mignon. The vegetables were average, as was the bau buns.We'd like to see another option for vegetarians on the menu as well.

Best seafood buffet I've had for a long time. Great fresh cold seafood, salads, cooked seafood, hot veggies, coffee, fruit and desserts. Beautiful view of the harbour from a lovely dining room. Great service. Wish I could eat there more regularly!

Seafood buffet was $75 a person. Good view, okay food. Definitely book in advance.
