Brilliant. What more can I say? I can say a lot more, but won't, as I feel it would ruin the surprise, or ruin the feeling you get when you walk in and aren't surprised at all, but think, as you walk up the stairs, slowly, at first, before taking the last few with confidence that this is the place you always expected it was, and that is why you are there. GoodbyeEdit, 11/11/22: We gathered, us, older and more weak minded than ever but somehow more open to Bavarian culture which, as Rory said, was fresh AF (as foretold). I had already eaten some, and so didn't need much, but Rory, who I mentioned before and really is the star of the show, it being his birthday in a few months after all, was very hungry and also very tall (6 foot plus, shoe size US men's 7).We all ordered and ate heartily, before dancing quickly a two step or similar in the band room which faces east and then downstairs, Nik sliding silently down the last part of the handrail (petite feet), we stumbled out home very satisfied. Rory had a different experience, he said, but still asked I write this and give the venue 4 stars cheers

Came here for dinner. Food is just OK. Not bad, but not awesome. Got the feast platter, the e schnitzel was good and the best part of it. Sausages were OK, ham was OK, pork was a little dry. Potato salad was nice. Not a fan of sauerkraut so can't really judge that. Service is OK. Beer choice is good. Place is a little dated but clean. The platter could probably feed 4 ppl, so in that regard OK value.

Although this restaurant sits at the side of the road between my home and work, I had never bothered to step in once except today. The experience turned out quite delightful. Food are very delicious and come with generous portion. The only reason to take one star off is because of the cherry chocolate cake my friend ordered for dessert. She said it is dry and stale. Other than that, we both like the place very much, will come back sometime.

Mmmm….Ive been here a couple of times, meals are big but this last time wasn’t great. Pub meal comes to mind with a German selection of beer that you can get at the castle in North Melbourne.Ordered the schnitzel etc as always and finishing our meals and drinks to look over at the bar and theres a staff member ( waiter/bar attendant having his dinner….brown haired person with unshaven face, to see him touching his nose with his thumb and picking out what ever was in there, not just in one nostril but the other as well…..my instant reaction was…”Oh no, then my daughter says…what? I tell her and clearly state that it will be the last time I come here after witnessing that…..The staff are lovely..some of them…..but to see that just put me off for life…..and having been a second time the hype was clearly gone after the nostalgia of first time attending. The food is average and on the higher side for what it is, but you can get this elsewhere throughout Melbourne.

German Club House found along the Princes Freeway is unassuming and to be honest pretty ugly building but the guest restaurant, WOW, it packs a punch! Good old down to earth German food, no bells or whistles but flavorsome and hearty. HUGE SERVINGS! So come empty. Service friendly and more than willing to please. By far the most impressive item on the menu is the Pork Knuckle! At $42 you won't be disappointed, do not attempt an entree if this is your choice as they serve up half a pig! With an accordion player softly playing in the background this restaurant is great. You can't go wrong here. Plenty of parking,so give it a go.

Edit (Jan 2023)We called Tanya, and she apologised and provided us with a voucher for two pork knuckles. Will provide an updated review once we have gone back and tried the pork knuckle.--------They never delivered the pork knuckle we pre-ordered, and then served us raw chicken.Let me elaborate. Our group booked and pre-ordered two pork knuckles. We received email confirmation two days before, and staff member Tanya gave us a phone call the day before to confirm our order. On the day, we were told there was a miscommunication and there was no pork knuckle because it was Greek night. They said even though we had pre-ordered and received email AND phone confirmation, there was no way we'd get our pork knuckle and to order off the Greek menu.We explained it had taken us a couple of months to schedule this dinner (shift work and unforseen health complications had gotten in the way) and we'd been looking forward to trying the pork knuckle. The staff just apologised and told us to order off the Greek menu. This was disappointing but understandable, until the table next to us received a pork knuckle and a sausage platter (both of which were supposedly unavailable). When we asked the staff, they avoided our questions and just told us to order from the Greek menu.At this point we should have left, but we were hungry and decided to stay. We ordered lamb and chicken dishes, and to top off the night, the chicken came out raw on the inside (photo evidence provided). When you're paying ~$50 a person, the disappointment and hassle wasn't worth it. The staff and owner didn't seem to care at all, the staff just brushed off our questions and the owner seemed to avoid us. We'll be looking for another place to enjoy some pork knuckle.

Has a recently improved menu. Service was very lovely and they can accommodate larger groups. The atmosphere is a relaxed German setting. Looks better inside than from the outside!Give it a try!

Absolutely loved the food, drinks and ambiance of this place. You cannot at all judge what the inside is like from seeing only the outside of this place. What an unexpected surprise it was when we entered the dining room after climbing the flight of stairs. Very homely and there was also someone playing the accordion! The food was top notch, the crackling on the pork was just perfect. The 1L Stein was great and it's just a shame the food was so good I ate everything and also helped finished my wife's food, that I couldn't finish the beer!! Was so full but so totally worth it. Great place! We'll be back for sure!
