Dinners with jimmy

James catered for our wedding at home a few weeks ago and we cannot recommend him highly enough. We had quite a few dietary requirements to cater for but James helped us to design a menu that suited everyone. He was a pleasure to deal with, he and his team came to our house with everything and left at the end of the night as if they had never been there. The food was wonderful and his team was lovely. I hope to work with James again, he was just the best!

Due to health reasons we couldn't take my parents out to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary but James came to the rescue and created the most magical experience for my family that we are forever grateful for.The food was simply magnificent! We started off with some delicious dumplings, followed by crispy pork bao buns, Peking duck, sizzling king prawns and rocklobster and then a fabulous creme brulee for dessert.The meals were each a work of art, the highest quality and most importantly the most incredible food you have ever eaten!Not only does James create a beautiful atmosphere but he creates a special menu just for you! He cleans, serves, makes you laugh and sets up everything so you can just enjoy yourselves.There is so much love and care that goes into your event that you will not find a better service anywhere. I can't recommend dinerswithjimmy enough.. you just need to experience it for yourself. It will be the best decision you ever make! Thank you so very much!

Could not recommend Dinners with Jimmy enough! James Avent is a culinary mastermind and an absolute dream to work with. His professionalism and understanding of my vision made me feel so comfortable from the get go. And most importantly, his food is as stunning as it is delicious! 5 stars!!

We had an amazing dinner with Jimmy at the start of February to celebrate a birthday milestone. 12 ladies, a few dietary requirements, yet nothing was an issue for Jimmy and we are still talking about it today. Both the service and food were exceptional, and I would not hesitate to recommend Jimmy.

James and Natalie and staff were amazing. I used them for my Dads 70th Birthday Party. We had lunch for 18 and we didn’t need to worry about setting the table, cleaning up after as everything is done. James wanted to know some insight on my Father so he could really cook the perfect dishes that suited his personality. My Dad was in tears and amazed that James made it personal with meaning to him. I would have them back again and they were just a joy to be around in general. Thanks so much for making my family come together with your wonderful food and good hearts .

We used Dinners with Jimmy for our garden wedding at home. The food was wonderful and many guests made comments to us about its quality and presentation. Ours was savoury canapes and petit fours. We highly recommend Dinners with Jimmy. Chef and owner James is a delight to work with. He accommodated our need to cater for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters. We had many delightful discussions finalising the menu. And his staff were courteous and friendly in serving the food. James was on site ensuring the best experience. James, the owner of Dinners with Jimmy, was a delight to deal with from start to finish. I was provided with menu ideas that catered for all my guests’ dietary needs and dislikes, and there were a few! Nothing was a problem. The food was delicious, only the finest quality, locally scoured produce was used. Aside from James professionalism, what made the whole experience so wonderful was how he introduced each course and gave a little background around each dish. The staff were friendly and very accommodating, they left my kitchen was left spotless. I am looking forward to booking my next dinner party with James.

My party of 18 were honoured to have. James come to our home and cook an amazing sit down 3 course very long lunch. James’ team, Carla and Glenys were an absolute joy. The food was fabulous. We booked Dinners with Jimmy (DwJ) for our wedding in Leopold in April 2023, and they did such a phenomenal job -- not just with the catering, but with the table setting as well! Jimmy and his team took care of all we needed for our reception dinner, including the table setting and decor. They were able to create a menu for us despite the myriad of dietary restrictions we had to deal with, and the entire team was so helpful and patient with us. The service was impeccable too, and all the servers were so kind and attentive!We went with a Grazing Table for cocktail hour, and it was so delicious! The guests couldn’t stop raving about the food – several said they wished they could have spent another 2 or more hours at the Grazing Table; some said it was the best they’d ever had! I was so sad to have wasted so much of it – if it hadn’t rained that night I probably would’ve snuck some of the dips and things in, haha!The amuse-bouche was absolutely delicious, too. It was STUNNING, and I don’t think I’ve ever had anything quite so delicious. The rest of the meal was also amazing – my husband and my sisters particularly loved the whiting and prawn mousse; the pescatarians said the salmon was the best salmon they’d ever had; and some guests said they “don’t like lemon, but loved the dessert!” The portions were smart as well – everyone was well-fed and satisfied, but not too full to dance at the end of the night!Thank you so much for the wonderful experience, Jimmy! I honestly think the food was probably the highlight of the night for me (apart from, you know, marrying the love of my life, HAHA). I knew when we decided to get married that I wanted – above everything else – to give our guests a great meal, and you guys made it happen!Hiring DwJ was well worth the money and I would 100% recommend them to everyone I know and they'll be our go-to for any private dinner functions!

Fantastic experience having Dinners with Jimmy cater for our staff Christmas party in our home! Wonderful food, great service with cocktail food - even took a serve of everything up to our children having a movie night upstairs. And left our kitchen cleaner than when they started! A very stress free way to host an event.
