PodBed Coogee Beachside

We recently stayed in a private room at Podbed Coogee and generally our stay was positive. The hostel is in a great location and the staff we interacted with were lovely. Also good communication when we had not had check in details but we contacted the hostel and they sent across precise check in info. Nice garden and generally facilities were good though the kitchen was quite small and missing lots of cutlery so could be frustrating trying to eat meals and not having the things you need. The only other thing to note was the noise level. Most nights this was not an issue but the key codes to the bedrooms doors are quite loud opening and locking and you can hear others going in and out of their rooms (fine in itself but if you're a light sleeper not great). Also our last night there we had a very loud group in the lounge drinking and chatting for a long time around 1am. The hostel puts up many signs saying please be quiet after 10pm, but management did not appear to be around to reinforce this. We had to ask people to be quiet and could hear slamming doors constantly. Again not the hostels fault but I would hope someone is around to enforce house rules if they are in place. Also the beds could be a bit comfier but for the price the hostel was nice and a good base for a few days in Sydney.

Nice affordable and comfortable hostel to stay. Close to the Beach and other essential shopping centres, restaurants, Takeaways, Pub, Bar, Hotels and bank. Bus stops are just 100 metres away.Staff and resident people were very friendly.Highly recommended.

This place was very relaxed, pretty and just nice to stay at. You had a garden and a terrace area in the front and the people there were all very chilled. It is close to the beach and supermarket and all the restaurants and bars. I would happily stay there again !

Friendly staff, good vibes. All the staffs (Bibek, Aya & Rose) constantly working so hard to keep the hostel clean and keep the vibes up. Always a big smile on their faces. Loved my stay!! 100% recommended. And I’m gonna miss them so much

Don’t bother. The idea of this place is great and some elements are good. The pods are spacious enough and have two USB outlets, lights and a fan. However only one of our 3 pods in the group had working USB ports. All 3 of us had cockroaches sharing the space with us each night. Not a rare sight in Sydney but could easily be avoided. Often had unexplained bites and spots which I can only guess are from bedbugs maybe? Again not uncommon in Hostels. Bathrooms are ridiculous. Showers pour out into the toilet cubicles and often looks like it’s flooded. One sink in each bathroom is also annoying. Not a very social hostel, not sure I ever saw a staff member. Even at check in, a guy who looked like he was a guest said we’d get an email when the rooms were ready. Never got shown any of the facilities etc. This then made it hard for when we had problems arise like the USB not working to ask someone about it so didn’t bother. Shame as location is great and the Hostel could be good, but probably not anytime soon.

The location ist perfect, just a quick walk to the Beach and around the corner the supermarket. The bedroom I had, had no window to open, which was not that nice, had to have my door open, to get some fresh and clean air. But all in all a great stay.

This is really a great hostel with an amazing location close to the beach. The staff is amazing and helps you every time. I can recommend this hostel to everyone.

I have done several hostels in Australia, but this one is the best! people are very respectful in general, the atmosphere is calm, which is very pleasant, unlike some others who are very noisy. the team that manages the hostel is also very respectful and can always help you when you have a problem. The hostel is also ideally located, next to shops, and everything is available in the hostel, bathroom, kitchen, relaxation room. And don't hesitate to take the pods! this allows for additional privacy and calm. Go for PodBed Coogee, I really recommend.

The location is perfect. The garden is very nice. Unfortunately the rest was a bit of a letdown. The bathrooms have got 1 sink each, are very narrow and just too small for the amount of users. The upstairs one (not sure about the other two) was completely wet most of the time after someone has had a shower. Kitchen was gross, luckily our double room came with a small fridge so we didn't have to use the overfull one in the kitchen. The bins were overflowing most of the time. Room was very hot, we had our window open and fan on all the time and it still didn't make a difference.The hostel could do with some group activities like a shared BBQ night for example. As it's a hostel with a big group of long-term guests you don't feel welcome.It's a shame because the staff was very friendly, the place has a lot of potential but just needs a good clean and better maintenance. All in all it was fine, good value and the best location we could hope for.
