Although the pollution was extremely high, it didn't love up to my expectations. Sure my lungs became irritated and my life expectancy has been reduced, but perhaps the owners could consider leaking sewage into the water supply, or dumping radioactive isotopes near the local schools. That would really improve the environmental damage!

The Hazelwood Power Station has excellent room service and customer services, I loved my stay in the eight big cigars and my dip in the lake. While I can no longer be around open flame due to the flammable aura of radioactive waves in my system, I would go there again, but I can't as my lungs are full of coal dust.

I find the number of people here complaining ridiculous, anyone can be a critic, yet not anyone can offer an alternative, so unless you offer something constructive why complain and point out factors we already know? It's easy to say, well it emits so lets close it down, which is unfortunately what has happened, extreme governmental pressures have resulted in it's closure, easy to complain anyone can. I think you should take a step back and try to understand what implications the closure of the power station will have, economical factors, social factors and even to a broader extent an increase in power prices. The increase will likely result in the closure of what few industries we have left, for example an increase in prices will probably make the Portland Aluminium Smelter unsustainable in the future. The government rushed the closure, probably due to social pressures, yes I agree an alternative must be found, but the way the closure has been handled will have extreme consequences, just another nail in the coffin for Australian industry. Additionally I bet this time next year the same people currently complaining about the emissions will be complaining about the increase in power, yet they will offer no alternative, funny that.

The dirtiest power station in the developed world and cause of one of Victoria's worst environmental disasters ever. The human impact will not be clear for decades. Murderous and corrupt. It doesn't get any worse than this really.

At first I thought the place was OK but the thick plumes of cancerous smoke started to really bother me. Management wasn't very helpful (apparently the boss is on permanent vacation in France???).The only saving grace is that there are none of those visually awful wind turbines (yuck).

Yes lets just close it down there's plenty of power around or is there ? Let's just sack everyone there's plenty of jobs for them or is there ? so when they all go on the dole let's not complain. So Victoria Government where is the plan to smoothly convert to a better type of energy to make up for the loss?Haven't got one?To all who are being sucked into climate control we as Australia contribute less than 1 % so this power plant will effect the world by .0001% so the workers must be happy by closing it down they will help save the world. But hang on Usa /China / India are going to increase output next year so this closure will make a big difference NOT.Don get me wrong we need to change but we need a plan to achieve it that will not effect power costs and jobs we are just in to much of a hurry to stand up in front of the world an say look at us.When in fact we have made no difference but we feel good (except if you work in the industries effected by it.

Horrible, Stinking, Outdated. This station has forced my family to live separately for 6 weeks. The owners of this eye sore" didn't even bother to address the community and our government all but forgot we existed."

10/10, pollution is funny. See the lighter side of pollution; it smells nice, it kills dangerous animals, it is interesting scientifically.Just think of it as 8 happy people having a smoke into the sky...Smoking is only a little bit bad, this is like that.

Sad to see it close, although it wasn't real clean, it was built in an optimistic time when Australia was expanding building massive job creating industries and cheap power to run it all.... Suppose we can all just buy and sell houses to each other...in the dark.

A source of reliable power since 1964. Bringing workers and their families to the Latrobe Valley. Creating jobs, and training apprentices for life. A significant image in the entire Latrobe Valley. Goodbye Hazelwood, you were a good friend to Australian industry.
