I recently ordered some patterns from The Drapery. I live in Albany, Western Australia but spent most of my childhood in the Barossa Valley and Adelaide. I was delighted to find a store in Australia which sold Merchant and Mills patterns as my enjoyment of sewing dresses has been reunited and I love these patterns. When I opened the package, I couldn't actually believe the care which was taken to wrap these simple items so beautifully. I opened and re-packaged the patterns three times... I can't wait to get started on my sewing adventure BUT if I never take scissors to the paper or put material into the sewing machine, I will ALWAYS be appreciative of the love and care which so obviously underpins the value of the owners of this store. Being separated from my S.A. family (my mum in Angaston and sisters in Mt Barker and Tanunda), I think I just enjoyed the thoughtful gifting from my someone in my home state which reconnected me with them. Lovely little shop with beautiful fabrics and lots of indie sewing patterns. Beautiful selection of Liberty Cotton Lawn, and lots of linen. Love the way garments are hanging in the shop for inspiration! Mainly natural colours, and very little jersey ... but the shop is very niche due to its size.
