Goethe-Institut Sydney

In the past 2 years I have attended several German language courses of various levels at the Goethe-Institut Sydney with great benefit. The material provided (texts, exercises, grammar tutorials) is of very good quality. In addition to their extended language knowledge, the teachers have excellent teaching skills providing adequate challenges and support to the students. The mixture of media, from text to audio and video as well as the conversations and writing practises have enable me to improve significantly my knowledge of the German language.

My daughter has been studying German at Goethe Sydney for the past three years. Both her and my experience with this has been excellent. The adaptation to Covid impacted learning was fantastic, and with the exception of one term where there was a challenging getting enough students to form a class at her specific level, there has been great continuity over the years.

My German A1.3 course was really enjoyable. The weekly Zoom sessions worked well, and the online content was really well designed - not overloaded with formal grammar, and had a clear structure. The teacher was very professional and accessible. The other students were all highly motivated and engaged.

I have been attending the Goethe institute for 2 years now and I have gone from speaking absolutely no German to being able to converse (at a basic level) on my own with native German speakers while I was in Germany recently. The teachers are fantastic and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to learn German.

I have been attending German language courses at Goethe Institute Sydney since 2014. Over this time period I have experienced a number of different learning environments - structured text-book based group - learning, private conversation classes, relaxed group learning based on discussion of topical issues and most recently online classes. All my teachers have been native-speakers and experienced educators. I have enjoyed each experience and have advanced in my language ability well beyond my expectations! Most recently the online course has been fantastic with use of a variety of media, lots of group interaction and interesting and challenging self-assessment modules. I would highly recommend the Goethe Institute, whether you are a beginner or more advanced in your learning.

For anyone serious about learning German, there's no substitute to the Goethe Institut. Their approach to teaching is centered on learning by practicing, and having fun while at it. Their classes are fast paced, practical and fun. The German language is by no means the easiest, but at the Goethe you will be going through a tried and tested approach that allows you to learn the fundamentals properly and build your confidence as you go along. I highly enjoy the small group environment, the interactive nature of the classes as well as learning about German culture in general.

German is the third language I have learnt and therefore I have considerable experience with different teaching methods and schools. The courses at Goethe are by far the most professional and well-structured courses that I have ever done. Of course, you wouldn’t expect anything less of the Germans, would you? On top of that every single one of my teachers has been fantastic. They are knowledgeable, friendly and warm. I look forward to my classes each week. I highly recommend the Goethe Institut.

I highly recommend Goethe-Institut Sydney if you would like to learn German.I started March 2020, during Covid, and have been learning since then. My experiences in different level/different teachers are similar. The teachers are very professional, friendly, helpful and always encourage us to speak more during the Zoom sessions.I did 5 weeks and 10 weeks online courses (5 weeks on A1.1 and 10 weeks on the others) 1.5 hours sessions per week in Zoom and weekly homework exercises that includes speaking, writing and reading.Goethe-Institut also offers German exams should you wish to obtain language certificate for further studies/work/move.

I have been learning German from Goethe Sydney for more than a year now, and it's been a great experience. The teachers are great, and the classes are small enough to give everyone enough time to practice talking. It's been the highlight of my week during the pandemic lockdowns in my country!I hope the online classes continue because I don't physically live in Sydney!

Just completed the A1.1 blended learning course (online) and had a very enjoyable and productive experience. Learning a new language is difficult even with free time, let alone fitting it in around a busy lifestyle. The online course has been set up to enable some important weekly (video) face time with a teacher and group whilst being able to fit the remainder of the work around your own schedule which was perfect for me personally. The course was well structured and the online components had a nice variety of learning tools. Judith, our course teacher, provided great mentoring, group exercises and feedback over the 10 weeks. Will definitely be continuing my German language education with Goethe.
