Tasmanian Singing Studio
Samuel Dundas, whose newest venture is the Tasmanian Singing Studio, has been my voice teacher for over a year now and I'm so glad to write a review for his new business. He is the reason I can say I'm a singer at all, and he has managed to give me a serious love for singing and all things music.I have always told Sam that there are two kinds of people in this world: those who can teach, and those who can't. Sam is of the former kind. And I tend to ask a lot of questions when I'm learning new things, often to the point of annoying or offending my teachers. Sam never once took offence, but in fact encouraged my questioning, which only made me love his teaching methods more. Sam never pushed me to accomplish things, but only gently showed me what I am and am not capable of.He has a nuanced understanding of people and feelings which makes him an excellent teacher with whom to grow, over a longer period.

I have been taking singing lessons with Samuel, and not only does he demonstrate significant experience as a professional operatic baritone, but also as a teacher. He is able to get across concepts that would otherwise be difficult to articulate, and train the student in good technique, helping them find and polish their own authentic sound. The proof is in the pudding, and within a mere handful of lessons my technique, breath control, placement and overall sound production received a lightning boost.Samuel has really helped me cut away bad habits, train up better technique and dig up the gem of my own vocal sound. The lessons he has taught me will form the backbone of my ongoing singing endeavors, launching me from amateur 'shower' singer to somewhere more serious vocally. For anybody looking to take their singing to a serious level, I strongly recommend Samuel Dundas' Tasmanian Singing Studio, which thankfully operates out of both Hobart and Launceston.
