Airlie Beach
Arlie Beach is the Gateway for Whitsunday Islands. We visited this place during Christmas break and enjoyed our stay a lot. From Arlie Beach, we can visit Hamilton Island, Whitehaven Beach and Daydream Island by ferries. Whitehaven Beach is the most visited place in Australia after Sydney Opera House.Another good location is Bowen which is approx. 50 min drive from Arlie Beach. The accommodation are limited in Arlie beach as a result the prices are high for the accommodation. At the central area of Arlie Beach, there is a big blue wall that has written Arlie Beach. This is a good tourist place as Whitehaven beach is the best beach in the world and the easiest way to visit this place is Arlie beach.

What can I say? Possibly the most relaxing holiday destination ever. We loved our time here. Post COVID some of the restaurants need a bit of a freshen up and some staff training in customer service but the views make up for all of that.We had a couple of trips out - Lady Enid sunset cruise was great. It was good to hear the history of yhe old girl and she certainly is beautifully restored.GSL Whitehaven sea plane and Snorkel was a once in a lifetime experience. Flying over Heart Reef was breathtaking and the pilot was really informative. We stayed at Martinique - the views from the apartments and infinity pools are stunning.

Vibe vistas and varietyThis is Airlie beach. Lots of cafes and restaurants, shops and bars. When you book your accomodation best to be near the beach area as this is flat. Airlie beach is very hilly and you will struggle if you stay on a steep hill with children. The lagoon has a few pools and shade under trees on a grass embankment. We spent half a day there and it was good. The lagoon is shallow so very good area for families with young children. Plenty of toilets too and lifeguards. Take food as not cafe close to the lagoon.Airlie beach is safe swimming when tide is in a fairly calm beach but no lifeguards. We stayed at Airlie beach hotel which if you ask to stay at the back of hotel was nice and quite. We had a corner suite overlooking the beach and marina.Walking distance to port of Airlie where a lot of the trips go out from.Catch a boat to Hamilton island from Airlie beach which takes about an hour. You can walk to the coral resort marina to catch boat to the pontoon ( reef). We went to pontoon with Sail Whitsundays which included lunch and all snorkelling gear.We sailed on the Lady Enid to Longford Island which was awesome. Our sons did rafting with two snorkelling stops and Whitehaven beach and lookout.A really good holiday destination.Love your local guide-MPlease like me if helpful.

Airlie Beach
Airlie Beach and the surrounding area and Whitsunday islands were devastated by cyclone Debbie in March 2017. The town and it's facilities are now back in business and looking great! It's safe to go back to Airlie Beach and enjoy all it has to offer. The Barrier reef with it's spectacular coral and fish life has suffered a lot but there are still spots where snorkeling and diving will be very rewarding. There are also many National park areas inland and beautiful beaches north of Airlie Beach to explore.
