Tasted their cheeses today. Very nice. I don't like Blue Cheese but I did try La Cantara Artisan Blue... very nice.

Absolutely exceptional cheeses. The Queso de Mano is honestly one of the best cheeses I’ve ever had (and I’ve eaten A LOT of cheese!). It’s a Venezuelan-style stretched curd cheese - think of the silkiest, softest, most delicious fresh mozzarella you’ve ever tried, make it even softer and more silky; add some extra delicious points for the flavour of the milk, and that is what La Cantara’s Queso de Mano will give you. We have also enjoyed several of their gorgeous offerings including the washed rind and their beautiful blue, both of which are super delicious. Genaro and Rosselyn are the loveliest people, we had such a wonderful conversation with them at the Hobart Farmers Market, before stuffing our bags full of their delicious cheese, which we are still enjoying. Very highly recommend this family-run artisan cheesery.

La Cantara had a stall at the Taste of Summer in Hobart where we enjoyed a sample of their delicious cheeses! We tried their burgers and cheese sticks (tequenos) and they were great! The queso blanco cheese seems like it would be a lovely alternative to haloumi for cooked/heated cheese and vegetarian burger options.Would recommend!

La Cantara Artisan Cheeses
This was a real pros and cons experience. We drove up from Penguine to check out what was marketed as an Artisan cheese dairy/factory or at least that was the impression we had. We were looking to taste some of the interesting cheeses that we saw on the website. What we found was a tourist information centre. I thought we were in the wrong place so I asked at the counter and the very nice lady directed me to a plastic trestle table with Tupperware containers of cheese on it..... No further information was offered other than the whereabouts of a fridge containing cheese for purchase. At this point the review would have been a 1 but the cheese was excellent. I could have bought nearly all of them they were so good. It was a good information centre and the ladies were lovely, the cheese was superb but the expectation of the experience portrayed on the website vs the reality of the plastic table was a real bummer. 2 other couples we spoke to whilst there felt the same. Some clearer information on the website would be good because the products are great. Luckily for this business the cheese sells its self.
