Great place to take the kids, extended family or friends visiting Townsville for the first time. Townsville is a beautiful city with stunning scenery everywhere you look.

A great museum with well organised, detailed and interesting exhibition-style exhibits. We spent several hours wandering through and learning about the history of Townsville, particularly in wartime. A hidden gem, highly recommended.

$15 entry is a bit steep for a museum that receives public funding from the Queensland government. Museums and art galleries should be free to the public so that EVERYONE can access them regardless of their income level.

Museum of model ships and maritime services ...very informative displays about seafarers life of yesteryears.. some of the mini ship models are incredibly detailed, excellent craft work and knowledge...Museum helped to improve my respect to all those seafarers who contributed to create this modern world..... Cash only.

Biggest problem I had during my visit was I run out of time. To read all the factual information you really need a full day, so much on display, models,videos to watch, articles to read. But really enjoyed it, but will need to visit again to finish off everything.

The contents of this museum are still being increased. Staffed by volunteers. There are videos - I will be going back to see what else they have. the man on the counter was very helpful and the displays wer very well cared for and set out well loved the antique tv which showed a video of a mission that was done to secret which sunk japanese ships very interesting especially good for the blokes

We visited this museum and we were very surprised we thought it would only be a small museum and we would have a quick look, it has so much to look at and read and is just beautiful we loved our time here and will definitely go back. It has fantastic ships models to admire and so much history. It is looked after by volunteers and they should be very proud of themselves for the beautiful museum they have put together. It is set on the marina and you explore each room that is set out with information. They even have a lighthouse. Great place to visit.

Maritime Museum of Townsville
It was quite informative. I like reading about the WWII history and there is plenty of that here. The photo is a scale model of the USS Lexington which was sunk at the battle of the Coral Sea.
