Minyon Falls walking track

Definitely worth the 2.5hrs! It's important to take water and proper shoes. We saw a few people on the track walking in thongs and it would be a struggle as there are a few rock climbing parts and water obstacles. The walk is well covered by trees and on a 30 degree day we felt cool in some parts. The way down is much easier than the way back depending if you go back the same way you come from (which is what we did). We were lucky the previous week had rained plenty so the water falkw as flowing. We chose not to swim because it was a bit busy but worth the walk to hear the water falling and the fresh mist and breeze!! We stayed for about a hour at the waterfall!

The full “loop” is not a loop, one end is at Minyon Grass and the other at Minyon Falls lookout (both have parking, picnic table, loo) - to complete the loop, walk via road. Route is not well signposted. Wear proper shoes for rock scramble to get to waterfall swim hole (short way from the river crossing at the bottom of walk down from Minyon Grass) and prepare for everything to get wet & muddy. Well worth the effort - absolutely gorgeous scenery, swim at waterfall base is awesome. Beware leeches; carry salt if you don’t like them.

Definitely a must hike when staying in Byron.The waterfall is amazing. We got lucky as it was pouring rain the day before and when we went on this hike the waterfall was in full fall. The splashing of water and sun created double rainbows which were great sight.Highly recommend brining swimmers so you can go for a dip. The water isn't deep around 1.5ms so you will be able to stand no problems. Would recommend bringing a bottle of water and some food as it takes 2hrs one way

Great walking track, highly recommend if you are in the Byron area as you get to see the real Byron outside of the beach, bars and restaurants. The drive to the track is beautiful in itself, and there are some lookouts on the way to stop at. We started at the Minyon Falls lookout and took the 4.6km walk down to the base, where we swam at the base of the falls. It was truly magical and and very refreshing after our walk. On our way back we took the 2.5km walk to Minyon Green and then walked to our car from the road as it was a challenging walk on a hot day.

A strenuous walk through muddy and slippery conditions, but expect to be amazed when you reach the waterfall. Absolutely, spectacular! A few rocks to scale to get to see the final waterfall, but the effort is worth it. Be sure to look out for little arrows to ensure you are maneuvering in the right direction.

Amazing hike! Quite adventurous.From the lookout there are 4.6 kms to the waterfall's base. 3 hours return.Bring water and some snaks. Also dry socks just in case.It rained a lot the day before and the waterfall was very powerful.Very slippery path and rocks.A stick is going to be very helpful if the water streams are loaded.Do not go with thongs or barefoot.High socks recommended.Everyone not wearing proper footwear had their feet covered on leeches. It was very gross seeing everyone removing the leeches and having fleet bleeding.Very impressive view from the waterfall's base.Toilets and picnic area available at the lookout area.

A relatively challenging track but very much worth it. The waterfall is beautiful and the lower falls are so peaceful. There had been quite a lot of rainfall before we did the track so there was a lot of mud, which was difficult to navigate without proper hiking shoes. Recommend making the effort to do the walk down to the base if you have the time.

I walked from Minyon Grass Day Use Area to the base of Minyon Falls. The walk was absolutely stunning. There is a rock scramble just before you get to the falls and I found it quite slippery and tricky to navigate. Picked up some leaches on the way back.

You have to be a skilled walker to get to the waterfalls. To be accessible for people with locomotive disabilities, little children and the elderly, the trails would need some extra work, handrails, steps…

Beautiful walk, kinda hard but worth it
