I've tried a few of their bakes now and have to say it's been a hit and miss. I've enjoyed their fig custard tart - not too sweet, buttery, really nice! Their dolce cookie was a bit dry. Passionfruit sponge was ok too. What I was really disappointed about was their Lemon Meringue Tart. I picked up two slices yesterday for a post dinner treat but never got past the initial bite. They tasted really egg-y and almost metallic! Went straight into the bin unfortunately. Probably from a bad batch, but truly disappointing.

I’ve been wanting to try these pastries for a while now but have not had the chance to since it’s abit of a drive from the east. Today i got the chance to check it out around 11am since I’ve been told they sold out pretty quick. Here are my honest reviews:The basque I would say is pretty good, 4/5, not too sweet - just right, plus the cheesecake just melts in your mouth .The lemon meringue is good too, taste-wise I’d say 4/5, just the right amount of tangy lemon flavour and overall not too sweet and overwhelming, also melts in your mouth and has that ‘i want more’ kind of aftertaste. The caramel custard bomboloni unfortunately is waaay too dry and chewy I couldn’t eat it, and I find it a waste of money.Lastly with the eclairs, it has the right balance of sweet and bitterness plus the creaminess of the custard blends in well, the dough however is pretty soggy which is a shame.Overall, I wouldn’t say I won’t come back, but good to get a slice of basque every now and then. Did not really reach the hype I expected from what I gathered from other people, especially when it comes to their customer service, I hope they would appear somewhat friendly and enthusiastic next time, as today when I first tried to visit this shop the crew behind the counter looks very bored and depressed, didn’t seem keen and happy to serve their customers.

Ordered a prosciutto focaccia, latte and a cheesecake to go. Well balanced flavours in the sandwich with the cheese and prosciutto. Loved the sugary biscuit that came with the latte. Cheesecake was a tad bit sweet to my liking but the texture was very nice.

I think I can safely say I’ve tried just about everything — and over Christmas, Audrey’s take on a mince pie was AMAZING (hoping that comes back!).But my experience has been that everything I’ve tried has been fresh and full of flavour. Highlights - lemon meringue with its golden brown crust, tarte tartin but do share because it’s quite rich. The servings are always consistent, and I’ve found that some items will keep for two days - but definitely not the sponge (dries pretty quickly) or the crullers (they lose that little bit of crunch). If you’re looking for best selection / least people, Thursday morning for sure.

My friend has loved Holy Sugar before they opened a store! She took me and wow it’s sooo good. Definitely will go back. Such a cute vibe inside too. The lemon meringue pie was my fav-Melbourne

Same issue as other customers. Customer service was extremely poor with the girl behind the counter honestly making me feel bad for even daring to come into the shop. No hello, no response to a “hi how are you?”. Even a smile would’ve been enough considering I came from an hour and a half away to try their cakes. Food was pretty good but the overall vibes were rancid and ruined my experience. Wishing they would deal with this concern or even respond considering multiple customers have had the same experience
