I’ve been fortunate enough to have had instruction in the art of luthierie for the past 4 years from Steve Toscano. He’s a superb builder of very fine instruments, and a patient, fun teacher. I have been absolutely thrilled with the quality of instruments I have been able to build under his mentorship. I have a passion for building instruments that I thoroughly expect to last a lifetime

I recently finished my first guitar with Steve. I gave it to my daughter as a gift. In her words “ this is the best gift I have ever received”. It was a truly awesome experience making the guitar. Steve was very patient with me especially as I am very slow. Each week I learnt something new and have just started my second guitar (with my other daughter). The guitar itself looks and sounds amazing. Steve’s a great teacher and it’s a fun environment with a good bunch of people. I would highly recommend.

Coming into this workshop with very little knowledge of woodworking, Steve has patiently instructed me through the building of my own classical guitar step by step. He is super knowledgable, his tools and equipment are top notch and has an excellent range of materials to work with. The choice of wood and the look of the guitar is totally up to you too which means you truly get a custom guitar you have created yourself. Photo shows my guitar before the back went on.

Can't imagine a better way to spend my Monday nights, with Steve and a group of keen guitar makers!Steve is a fantastic teacher and a great guy! So knowledgeable and attentive to all the newbs, ensuring everyone finishes the luthier course with a professional quality build (why would you want to ever purchase an off the shelf guitar again?!). My first build was Steve's own design OM style guitar, where you are allowed to add your own personal design choices. Our group all built this style at the same time, and despite them all looking different and being built from different woods, they all sound absolutely beautiful! Now Steve has specifically accommodated my request for the second build - a J45 style. Legend!

I recently engaged Steve for a custom build on a guitar. As I had some very specific requirements for the build I needed to feel confidant with my choice of Luthier. Steve proved to be extremely patient, knowledgeable and approachable throughout the entire process. The best thing about the whole experience though was that the end product he delivered well and truly surpassed any expectations that i had.The workmanship is first class and the guitar is a pure joy to play!

Absolutely loved making my beautiful small bodied OM with Steve and Dave in the last couple of months. Super chilled atmosphere, and a highly professional expert eye for detail on all aspects made this an amazing experience I will repeat in the future. Can't believe what it's possible to create from a few pieces of wood and a whole lotta love! Give it a crack you won't regret it!

I saw Steve at a woodworking exhibition and was very interested but since I can't play a note and am all thumbs, I was hesitant. Eventually, I gathered resolve and joined his class and am nearly finished my first guitar. I love the fact that Steve and Dave guide one in a friendly and helpful fashion, Steve has all the tools and templates to allow one freedom of choice as well as a stock of different timbers. The classes are small, allowing personal tuition, they are great fun and there's a lovely spirit amongst the participants. Despite my lack of skill, what is emerging under his tutelage is an excellent work of art that anyone would be proud of. I enjoy the thought that when I'm no longer around my children and grandchildren, who do play, will enjoy the fine instrument that Grandad crafted. I'm enjoying it so much that I'll probably go on to make another guitar, or two.February, 2023:My first instrument is finished, we strung it up yesterday and it exceeded my expectations. Despite my lack of skill/knowledge, what has emerged as a result of the help and guidance I've enjoyed is a fine guitar with lovely warm tone. I'm assured that as it learns that is no longer a tree but is in fact a musical instrument the tone woods that were used will harmonise and continue to improve. I've enjoyed the classes so much that as I indicated in my earlier review, I have started building a second guitar.
