The Barkly Bistro Bar & Accommodation

My partner and I stopped for a night during our little road trip, we are glad we did. The Barkly Bistro Bar & Accommodation is a great spot to stay. The staff was friendly and nice. We were running late for dinner, and the girl suggested taking the order over the phone to have the food ready for us once there. The room was great and the shared bathroom was clean and tidy.

Great pub to stay at for the night. The included breakfast was amazing.We also popped in to the bar for a drink at the end of the night,rob and sandy were great hosts

Great place to stay if you're in Ararat! The owners are very welcoming and helpful, and provide a complementary breakfast (they can accommodate vegans too). The property is very quiet, especially at night, and there are beautiful paintings and decor throughout which make the surroundings very interesting. There's free tea and coffee, my only issue was I couldn't work out how to use the pod coffee machine (would benefit from some instructions on the machine). The bathrooms and toilets well maintained and very clean, and t my room was very comfortable. The property is in an ideal location, being on the main road so the cinema is right across the road while you just need to step outside to see the shops.

We stayed two nights at the Barkley, we were warmly welcomed by Sandy. The bed was amazing, the best shower EVER and the included breakfast just fabulous! Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Grampians.

One of the most pleasant places I've ever stayed. I stayed 5 nights and was 100% satisfied with every one of them. Food was first class. Very, very highly recommend staying here. Hosts and all the staff were awesome and very welcoming and accommodating. By the end of my stay you could be forgiven for almost feeling like part of the family. I will be back.

I stayed at the Barkly Hotel for a 6 night stay during February. I had a fabulous stay whilst exploring the Grampian mountain region and this was a perfect location for a base. All the staff are extremely kind, friendly and you get very well looked after. The accommodation is great, a nice spacious room and comfortable large bed. The shared bathroom is no problem at all and the coffee machine in the lounge comes in very handy ! The food is sensational, the breakfast alone is amazing and you only have to read other reviews, superb ! I had dinner each night also other than Sunday which was closed. I tried many menu options and all were equally wonderful with a great selection of beers and a fabulous Shiraz ! Sandy and Rob are the nicest of hosts and I really hope to return there again on my next visit to Australia. Wonderful service all round and excellent value for money. Thankyou Sandy and Rob.

Last week my husband and I had a very welcoming one night stay in a comfortable room. Rob is a friendly and hospitable host. The rooms and shared facilities are very clean. Sitting outside for an evening beer with some fries was most enjoyable.

Great traditional hotel that has been modernised but still retains it's history. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Hosts were fantastic and upgraded us to a bigger room even though I was the one that messed up the booking and booked too small a room. Definitely recommend!

A fantastic, welcoming and happy place.We visited Ararat for a quick weekend away and are so glad we chose The Barkly.Super accommodating and friendly staff. The most deliciously comfortable bed and bed linen which was ideal in the very chilly weather.Gorgeous Cafe style Breakfast and coffee.Yummy Schnitzels.Great selection of drinks in the bar and a vast range of Sweet treats.Some of the best customer service we have ever experienced.We can't wait to come back.

We stayed at Barkly Bistro on the way back to Melbourne from South Australia and it was a wonderful surprise. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I thought the shared bathroom would be an issue but there are several on the floor so no problem. What really makes this boutique hotel stand out is the hospitality. I messaged Sandy to say we'd been delayed for dinner and she sent the menu so we could order in advance. A delicious dinner was ready just after we arrived! If that isn't enough breakfast is included in the price. The food and coffee are great.If you're sick of charmless motels try this gem in Ararat. It's great value for money.
