Vets Choice - Insurance for Pets

Claims are difficult to process, have to wait days for a response, you will always be asked for pet medical history, then they evaluate the claim to see if there’s a possibility to reject claim. Lengthy process and you may or may not get money back. Be aware of the bi lateral wording also, just make sure you read and understand it. For example if 1 leg needs surgery, then the other opposite leg needs surgery within 6 months or if it is noticed within 6 months that may need surgery you will not be covered, even if you had the new surgery 8 months later.

We have insured our dog chihuahua x for 2 years (after he ended up in emergency costing us $2000) and made two claims recently. What we were not aware of is that if each claim falls under a different category, you get hit with a $200 excess. So he ate a hot cross buns, vet bill was $250, we saw $50 back. Tore his flank - $200 excess.Considering how much we've paid over 2 years, it's not worth it for us. We will be changing back to my old pet insurance ProSure (my late dogs insurance) as they were amazing to deal with, for our accident prone staffy.

After a terrible (but typical) experience with the insurer for the puppy insurance policy that came with our puppy from the breeder, we researched heavily and decided on Vets Choice. Our puppy has had a very bad run of luck in his short life and has required multiple surgeries - Vets Choice showed great compassion and empathy and assisted us in circumstances when other insurers likely would not. They are partnered with the Australian Veterinary Association and it shows. Our delightful claims consultant is based in Melbourne and went well above and beyond for us. Highly recommended.

I have only just started my insurance policy but the cover and options were laid out very transparently with choices for levels of cover and excess. I like the fact that the only cost (besides the policy payment) is the excess you have agreed to pay and otherwise the total costs of the operation/treatment are all covered (there are limits to cover in several cases but these are all clearly laid out)

Found the info I needed to insure our two new kittens quickly and easily and sign up was very easy and efficient with policy details provided immediately. So far very pleased.

It would be nice if insurance could be a little cheaper for kittens given that we are required to keep them housebound in the suburbs. And offer a discount, even 10% for Seniors and pensioners.

I've been with Vets Choice for a year and cannot recommend the service from their claims team enough! Their claims team are fantastic to deal with, kind, patient, and very understanding. In particular, my experience with Ella Rountree and Angela Pedulla has been more than 5 stars. I have a distinct memory of Ella telling me about her background working at Vets choice - that they weren't just selling insurance on the phone, but people with backgrounds in vet or animal care who genuinely loved to take care of animals.However, today while on the phone to reinstate our policy, as I did not realize the payment had expired a month ago, the service and attitude I received from the Vets Choice consultant (Lensa?) was extremely disappointing. She seemed impatient, short, snippy - almost as if she could not be bothered to help or explain kindly about the issues. Scripted and condescending.I'll continue staying with Vets Choice as most of our experiences are handled very professionally. But if it were my first time speaking to Vets Choice like today, I definitely would not have signed up.
