I caught up with Robbie on the beach between one of his lessons, he was so approachable I explained I’m 7 months into a bi lateral knee replacement and I’ve lost a lot of fitness and I’m adapting to my new knees, he suggested some exercises and to just get out there and paddle to get my paddle fitness up again, and when I was ready and had a clearance, to give him a call, after to speaking to Robbie and Josh, they paired me up Surf Coach Harry, who took the time to come up with a different pop up technique due too limited knee movement in my left knee, so out we went and I’m up an going again, such a great crew and confidence booster to getme back in the water and surfing again, I can’t recommend Robbie Sherwell Surfing and the crew enough, if your just starting or like me haven’t surf in ages or after injuries get down to the beach and let them give you a new life skill you can enjoy for life

Highly recommend XL surfing academy and their team for surf lessons! We spent 2 weeks on holidays from Sydney, and our kids, aged 9 and 11 wanted to learn how to surf. They had never swum in the surf before more than knee height....After 8 private lessons each with the XL group including Robbie (ex pro and was ranked no5 in the world), Wife Carlene, Son Josh and their team, both kids were competently riding waves into the shore with a massive focus on technique and loving it! Way beyond our expectations.0A great start to what I hope they will continue to love back at home.Thanks Guys!

Robbie, Carlene and the XL team are first class. Our boys 7 & 11, participated in a school holiday program out the front of Alex Headland. They had the time of their lives and will be back for more. Thank you to the team.

Group of 6 of us (8-53yrs), had 2 lessons at Alex Heads with Bodhi and 2 other instructors during the December school holidays. Instructors were really enthusiastic and great at explaining. We all had an awesome time and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to give surfing a good go.

Dad, grandad and the kids had an absolute blast at their first surf lessons. It’s safe to say they’ve been bitten by the bug and keep asking when they can go back for more. The team were professional, patience and kind. The kids actually did learn to surf and stand up on the board which we were not expecting at the first lesson. We look forward to returning to the area and book more lessons. Thank you!
